Education is the Mantra of Social Development: CM Vishnu Deo Sai

TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 5, 2025: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday underscored the transformative power of education as the foundation of social and economic progress, while reaffirming his government’s commitment to the welfare of the fishing community. Addressing the National Fishermen Awareness Conference at Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium in Raipur, the Chief Minister said that education is not merely a tool for employment but a guiding force that shapes the destiny of individuals and society.

“Life is incomplete without education. It is the mantra of social development and the key to success in every field—be it agriculture, business, or social welfare,” CM Sai said, addressing hundreds of fishermen, students, and social workers gathered from across the country. He stressed that an educated and organized society is the foundation of a strong nation and called upon citizens to take a firm stand against addiction and social evils.

Massive Expansion in Higher Education and Skill Development

Highlighting the strides made by Chhattisgarh in the education sector, the Chief Minister said that when the state was formed in 2000, it had only one medical college. “Today, there are nearly 15 medical colleges operating in Chhattisgarh. Prestigious institutions such as IIT, IIIT, IIM, AIIMS, the National Law University, and CIPET have been established here, offering world-class education to our youth,” he said.

He further added that Nalanda Campuses are being developed in every district to provide learning opportunities and direction to the younger generation. “Our goal is to ensure that no child in Chhattisgarh is deprived of education, and that every youth becomes a catalyst for social progress,” he said.

Empowering the Fishing Community: From Livelihood to Prosperity

Reiterating his government’s commitment to uplift the fishing community, CM Sai said that Chhattisgarh has adopted several progressive measures aligned with the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The Central scheme has transformed the lives of fishermen nationwide by promoting sustainable fish farming and improving income levels,” he said.

“In Chhattisgarh, we have recently abolished the contractor system at Gangrel Dam and restored fishing rights directly to the farmers in the submergence areas. This decision has ensured greater equity, transparency, and empowerment for local fishermen,” CM Sai added.

He announced that the State Government is constructing Chhattisgarh’s first Aqua Park at the Hasdeo Bango Reservoir at a cost of ₹37 crore. “This park will open new avenues in fish production, processing, export, and tourism—creating employment and income opportunities for hundreds of families,” he stated. Currently, fish farming is being conducted in over 800 cages in the reservoir, benefiting numerous panchayats and strengthening the rural economy.

“Our vision is to integrate the fishing community fully into the mainstream of development. From modern aquaculture to training and market access, we are creating a sustainable ecosystem that supports long-term prosperity,” the Chief Minister said.

Community Pride and National Integration

Union Minister of State Dr. Rajbhushan Chaudhary Nishad, who also attended the event, praised the historic contributions of the Nishad community. “Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always given an honored place to the Nishad community. His decision to build the Nishad Raj Temple alongside the grand Ram Lalla Temple in Ayodhya reflects his deep respect for this proud tradition,” Dr. Nishad said. He urged the youth to take pride in their heritage and actively participate in nation-building.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma lauded the hardworking nature of the Nishad community, describing them as “pillars of perseverance and dedication.” He said that their contribution to society’s progress is both inspirational and essential to the State’s social fabric.

Towards a Prosperous and Educated Chhattisgarh

The Chief Minister concluded his address with a vision of inclusive growth rooted in education, unity, and empowerment. “Education builds character and confidence. A strong society is one where every community grows together with dignity and opportunity,” CM Sai said, calling upon all citizens to uphold social harmony and self-reliance.

The conference witnessed the participation of MLA Sunil Soni, Bharat Matiyara, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Fishermen Welfare Board, and numerous community leaders, public representatives, and members of the National Fishermen Association from across the country. The event concluded with felicitations and cultural performances celebrating India’s vibrant fishing heritage and the government’s commitment to transforming the sector into a model of sustainable livelihood and social advancement.
