DGCA Expands Flight Capacity Ahead of Festive Season; Raipur-Delhi New Flight Service Announced

TFP Bureau, New Delhi, October 5, 2025: With the festive season approaching, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), under the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), has intensified its monitoring of airfare trends and flight capacities to ensure smooth travel for passengers. Recognizing the spike in passenger traffic during this period, the DGCA has engaged proactively with airlines, urging them to augment flight availability and prevent excessive fare hikes.

As part of this initiative, major airlines have announced substantial additions to their flight schedules:

  • IndiGo: Approximately 730 additional flights across 42 sectors
  • Air India & Air India Express: Approximately 486 additional flights across 20 sectors
  • SpiceJet: Approximately 546 additional flights across 38 sectors

A key highlight for travelers is IndiGo’s new flight service connecting Raipur and Delhi, which will begin operations from 26 October 2025. This new connection is aimed at meeting the growing demand on this important route during the festive season. Flight number 6E2120 will depart from Delhi at 10:15 am, reaching Raipur at 12:15 pm, while the return flight 6E6640 will leave Raipur at 12:45 pm, arriving in Delhi at 2:45 pm. This service will provide passengers with convenient travel options, particularly for those traveling for festivals, family visits, and business engagements.

The DGCA reiterated its commitment to protecting passenger interests by maintaining strict oversight of fares and flight capacities during peak travel periods. Authorities will continue to monitor schedules and ticket prices closely, ensuring that passengers have access to sufficient seats and reasonable fares.

Travelers planning to fly from Raipur are encouraged to book their tickets early, as the festive season typically sees heavy demand. IndiGo’s new Raipur-Delhi service is expected to relieve pressure on existing flights and provide added convenience for both leisure and business travelers.
