TFP Bureau, New Delhi, October 29, 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the final results of the Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2025, conducted for recruitment to various Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ scientific positions across multiple disciplines. The examination process comprised three stages—Preliminary (Stage I) held on February 9, 2025, Main (Stage II) conducted on June 21 and 22, 2025, followed by the Personality Test in September 2025.
Based on the candidates’ performance in all three stages, the Commission has released the merit list for appointments to posts including Geologist (Group ‘A’), Scientist ‘B’ (Hydrogeology) / Assistant Hydrogeologist (Group ‘B’), Geophysicist (Group ‘A’) / Scientist ‘B’ (Geophysics) / Assistant Geophysicist (Group ‘B’), Chemist (Group ‘A’), Scientist ‘B’ (Chemical) (Group ‘A’), and Assistant Chemist (Group ‘B’).
A total of 98 vacancies were reported by the Government for these categories, distributed among various posts and reservation categories. The largest number of vacancies were for the post of Scientist ‘B’ (Hydrogeology) and Assistant Hydrogeologist, with 44 positions available, followed by Geologist Group ‘A’ with 21 vacancies and Geophysicist-related posts with 22 openings.
In the final selection list, 21 candidates were recommended for the post of Geologist Group ‘A’, including persons with benchmark disabilities. For the combined posts of Scientist ‘B’ (Hydrogeology) and Assistant Hydrogeologist, 31 candidates were selected. Eighteen candidates were recommended for Geophysicist and related positions, while five were selected for Chemist Group ‘A’, one for Scientist ‘B’ (Chemical), and four for Assistant Chemist Group ‘B’.
The Commission has also maintained a consolidated reserve list for two categories — Scientist ‘B’ (Hydrogeology)/Assistant Hydrogeologist with 26 candidates, and Geophysicist/Scientist ‘B’ (Geophysics)/Assistant Geophysicist with six candidates. These reserve lists will be used as per recruitment rules and vacancy availability.
Appointments will be made by the Government in accordance with the number of vacancies, candidates’ eligibility, and completion of pre-appointment formalities. Allotment to specific services or posts will be determined by merit position and candidates’ preferences.
The results of several candidates have been declared provisional pending verification of their original documents. Their candidature will remain valid for three months from the date of result declaration. If the required documents are not submitted within this period, their selection will be cancelled.
