Mukesh Kumar Bansal reviews works in Ambikapur and Balrampur, stresses quality, monsoon preparedness and action against errant contractors

TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 19,2026: Public Works Department (PWD) Secretary Mukesh Kumar Bansal has directed officials and contractors to expedite key infrastructure projects across Ambikapur and Balrampur-Ramanujganj districts, warning that delays and compromises in quality will not be tolerated. During an extensive review and site inspection, he also ordered strict monitoring of ongoing works and called for notices and blacklisting of contractors failing to achieve the expected progress.

At a review meeting held in Ambikapur, attended by senior officials including Sarguja Collector Ajit Vasant and PWD Engineer-in-Chief V.K. Bhatpahari, Bansal assessed the status of road, bridge and building projects and instructed that all works be completed within stipulated timelines while maintaining prescribed quality standards.

With the monsoon season approaching, he directed officials to accord top priority to road maintenance and pothole repairs and ensure that bridges and culverts are repaired before heavy rains to facilitate uninterrupted and safe movement of traffic. He also called for regular inspections of roads and bridges to monitor their condition.

The PWD Secretary later inspected the under-construction Ambikapur National Highway bypass, including underpass and bridge works, and instructed construction agencies to accelerate execution so that the public can benefit from improved transport infrastructure without delay. He also visited the Ambikapur Medical College campus and directed officials to prioritise completion of the medical college building, emphasising that projects related to health infrastructure should not face unnecessary delays.

Continuing his tour in Balrampur-Ramanujganj district, Bansal chaired another review meeting with officials from the National Highway, Bridge Construction, Road & Building and Electrical & Mechanical wings in the presence of Collector Chandan Sanjay Tripathi, Divisional Forest Officer Alok Bajpai and Engineer-in-Chief V.K. Bhatpahari.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the slow pace of several projects, he instructed officials to intensify monitoring and coordination with contractors to ensure timely completion. He warned that negligence would invite strict action and directed that notices be issued to underperforming contractors, with blacklisting initiated wherever necessary.

The Secretary reviewed progress on several important road projects, including the Balrampur-Ramanujganj-Sanawal, Kameshwarnagar, Kapildevpur, Ganeshmod, Janakpur, Rameshwarpur-Shankarpur, Champa-Baad and Kusmi-Korandha routes, besides assessing building and government college construction works. He stressed that priority government infrastructure projects must be executed with accountability, adherence to timelines and uncompromising quality standards.

Bansal also inspected works on National Highway-343 and at Kanthi Ghat, directing officials to complete drainage and water discharge systems before the onset of the monsoon to prevent disruptions to traffic. He reiterated that all road and bridge construction must strictly comply with quality benchmarks and road safety norms while ensuring timely completion for the benefit of the public.
