TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 10, 2025. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday inaugurated the operational launch of the State Hangar near Swami Vivekananda Airport at Mana Camp, marking a significant step toward streamlining VVIP air movement in Chhattisgarh. Shortly after the inauguration, the Chief Minister departed for Gujarat from the newly commissioned facility.
Officials said the dedicated hangar will eliminate the inconvenience faced by regular passengers during VVIP arrivals and departures at the airport’s main terminal. The new system is expected to make VVIP flight operations more organised, efficient and less disruptive.
Constructed in 2012 by the Public Works Department at a cost of approximately ₹6.5 crore, the hangar had remained unused pending regulatory clearances. The required approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) were granted on October 31, 2025, allowing the facility to finally begin routine operations.
The hangar is linked to the airport’s main runway via Taxiway E, ensuring smooth and direct aircraft movement without interfering with commercial flight operations. It will also function as the maintenance base for state-owned aircraft and helicopters, ending the government’s reliance on rented hangar facilities within the airport premises.
MLA Motilal Sahu, Mana Camp Nagar Panchayat President Sanjay Yadav, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rahul Bhagat, Deputy Secretary Suraj Sahu, and several public representatives and senior officials were present at the inauguration.
