TFP Bureau, New Delhi, November 13, 2025: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has successfully conducted the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 with an unprecedented voter turnout of 67.13 percent — the highest in the state’s electoral history since 1951. Marking a new benchmark in efficiency and transparency, the elections concluded with zero repolls and zero appeals during the scrutiny of election results (SIR), underscoring the credibility and flawless execution of the poll process.
The state, which had 7.45 crore registered voters in the final electoral roll, witnessed a peaceful and well-organized polling exercise. Notably, none of the 2,616 contesting candidates or the 12 recognized political parties requested repolling in any constituency. Similarly, no appeals were received from any of the 38 districts during the SIR, reflecting the high degree of satisfaction with the election’s fairness and administrative precision.
The ECI has made elaborate arrangements for the counting of votes, scheduled to take place on November 14, 2025. Counting will be held across all 243 Assembly constituencies under the supervision of 243 Returning Officers (ROs) and 243 Counting Observers, in the presence of candidates and their authorized agents.
A total of 4,372 counting tables have been set up, each staffed with a counting supervisor, assistant, and micro-observer. Over 18,000 counting agents appointed by various candidates will oversee the process to ensure complete transparency. The counting of postal ballots will begin first at 8:00 AM, followed by the counting of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) from 8:30 AM onward. As per ECI guidelines, postal ballot counting will conclude before the second-last round of EVM counting.
During the counting process, control units of EVMs will be presented to the counting agents for verification of seals and serial numbers as recorded in Form 17C (Part I). The number of votes in the EVMs will be cross-verified with the corresponding entries, and in case of any mismatch, VVPAT slips from that polling station will be mandatorily counted.
In addition, a random verification of five polling stations per constituency will be carried out through VVPAT slips, which will be matched with the EVM results in the presence of candidates and their representatives.
The final results will be published round-wise and constituency-wise by the respective Returning Officers on the official ECI results portal — https://results.eci.gov.in. The Commission has advised media houses and the public to rely exclusively on this official source for authentic and verified updates, cautioning against unverified information from unofficial or social media platforms.
With its seamless execution, zero repolling, and highest-ever voter participation, the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 stand as a testament to the Election Commission’s commitment to ensuring free, fair, and transparent democratic processes in India.
