TFP Bureau,Raipur, December 1, 2025: The Chhattisgarh Government has launched an ambitious urban transformation initiative under the Mukhyamantri Nagarotthan Yojana, aimed at redesigning and modernising the state’s urban centres. In its first phase, the scheme has been rolled out across all 14 Municipal Corporations, marking a major push toward creating sustainable, accessible and people-centric urban spaces.
Following approval from Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration Minister Shri Arun Sao, 26 major urban development projects worth Rs. 429.45 crore have been sanctioned across 13 Municipal Corporations. These projects include major roadworks, riverfront development, sports complexes, hi-tech bus stands, water supply upgrades, city beautification works, and the development of mobility corridors and public parks.
A financial provision of Rs. 500 crore has been earmarked for the scheme in the State Budget for FY 2025–26. Work orders have already been issued for five projects, and foundation stones have been laid for five more, signalling the rapid pace at which the scheme is being implemented.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said the Mukhyamantri Nagarotthan Yojana will “give a new face and spirit to urban Chhattisgarh,” emphasising that the government’s priority is to build modern, beautiful and citizen-friendly cities rooted in sustainability. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao added that the scheme’s focus on “liveability and ease of living” will help set new benchmarks for urban development in the state.
Comprehensive Urban Transformation Across Municipal Corporations
The scheme includes a range of city-specific projects:
Raipur Municipal Corporation (Rs. 91.27 crore)
– Development of 18 road junctions (Rs. 9.02 crore)
– Water supply system strengthening (Rs. 23.38 crore)
– Mahadev Ghat Redevelopment Phase–1 (Rs. 18.86 crore)
– Construction of a Technical Tower in Telibandha (Rs. 40 crore)
Raigarh Municipal Corporation (Rs. 64.66 crore)
– Marine Drive expansion from New Shani Mandir to Chhath Ghat (Rs. 29.57 crore)
– Oxy Zone-cum-Sports Complex near FCI (Rs. 12.81 crore)
– New Sarangarh Bus Stand upgrade as an inter-state terminal (Rs. 22.28 crore)
Bilaspur Municipal Corporation (Rs. 57.92 crore)
Nine major works including:
– Widening of Ashok Nagar–Birkoni Road (Rs. 17 crore)
– Atal Path development (Rs. 9.74 crore)
– Mangla Chowk–Azad Chowk road upgrade (Rs. 5.09 crore)
– Streetlight replacement and electric pole upgrades (Rs. 3.62 crore)
– Beautification of Rakhbanda Talab (Rs. 2.22 crore)
– CC roads and drains in Sirgitti and Tifra
Korba Municipal Corporation (Rs. 36.55 crore)
– Construction of Gaurav Path from CSEB Chowk to Jain Chowk and ITI Chowk to Kosabadi Chowk
Dhamtari Municipal Corporation (Rs. 24.64 crore)
– Construction of a hi-tech bus stand (Rs. 17.70 crore)

– Four-lane road development from Dhamdha Road to Aditya Nagar and Hanuman Nagar to Junwani Road
Bhilai-Charoda Municipal Corporation (Rs. 29.43 crore)
– Construction of Canal Road from Dhabra Para to Indranagar
Bhilai Municipal Corporation (Rs. 24.30 crore)
– Implementation of 24 Nagarotthan works across the city
Risali Municipal Corporation (Rs. 17.33 crore)
– Road development and widening across three major corridors, including Maitri Kunj to Madhurisha Phase-3 and Azad Chowk to Krishna Talkies Road
Robust Monitoring Mechanism
Every Nagarotthan project will be monitored by a district-level committee chaired by the Collector. The Municipal Commissioner will serve as Member-Secretary, while Executive Engineers from PWD and PHED will serve as technical members to ensure timely completion and strict quality standards.
A Vision for Modern and Inclusive Urban Growth
The Mukhyamantri Nagarotthan Yojana encompasses a wide range of urban interventions—from major mobility corridors and bypass roads to riverfronts, sports complexes, integrated solid waste management systems, auditoriums, and green spaces. The scheme also aims to promote environmentally conscious urban planning through Oxy Zones, lake rejuvenation, and public parks.
As the first phase unfolds across 14 Municipal Corporations, the government plans to gradually extend the scheme to all urban bodies in the state, creating a long-term roadmap for future-ready urbanisation.
