Chhattisgarh tops India in PMMVY registration drive, achieves 72% target in just 9 days

Chief Minister Shri Sai extends congratulations to Women & Child Development Minister Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade

TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 28,2026: Chhattisgarh has emerged as the country’s top-performing state in the special registration drive under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), securing first place in both segments of beneficiary registrations and disposal of pre-registered beneficiaries.

The month-long campaign, underway from June 15 to July 15 for the registration of pregnant and lactating women, has seen the state achieve 72% of its target within just nine days. Janjgir-Champa district led the state with 96% target achievement.

The achievement has been attributed to the coordinated efforts of the Women and Child Development Department, Anganwadi workers, supervisors, field staff and other stakeholders.

PMMVY, a flagship maternal welfare scheme of the Government of India, provides financial assistance of Rs 5,000 to eligible women on the birth of their first live child and an incentive of Rs 6,000 for the birth of a girl as the second child. The scheme aims to promote maternal nutrition, healthcare, institutional deliveries and better child development.

Congratulating the department, field functionaries and partner agencies, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that maternal and child health remains among the state government’s highest priorities. He expressed confidence that Chhattisgarh would achieve 100% of its target and emerge as a national model.

Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade also congratulated officials, employees, Anganwadi workers and stakeholders, saying the achievement reflected collective commitment, continuous monitoring and dedication to public welfare. She appealed to all eligible pregnant and lactating women to register under the special campaign before July 15 to avail the scheme’s benefits.
