ECI Extends Schedule for Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls by One Week

TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 1, 2025: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the timeline for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls in 12 States and Union Territories, granting an additional week for key activities related to voter list updation. The revision exercise, being conducted with reference to the eligibility date of January 1, 2026, aims to ensure comprehensive and error-free electoral rolls ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.

According to the revised schedule issued by the Commission, the period for enumeration and filling of electoral forms has been extended and will now continue until December 11, 2025. The rationalization and rearrangement of polling stations is scheduled for December 11, 2025, ensuring that all polling locations meet accessibility and convenience standards.

Updation of control tables and preparation of draft lists will now take place from December 12 to December 15, followed by the publication of the Draft Electoral Rolls on December 16, 2025. The Commission has also extended the time for filing claims and objections, which can be submitted between December 16, 2025 and January 15, 2026.

The notice stage—comprising issuance of notices, hearings, and verification—will run from December 16, 2025 to February 7, 2026. Checking of health parameters of the electoral rolls, a key step to ensure accuracy and completeness, is to be completed by February 10, 2026.

The final publication of the updated voter list is scheduled for February 14, 2026. According to officials, the extended timeline will allow citizens more time to verify their details, submit corrections, and ensure that newly eligible voters are included in the rolls.

The Election Commission has urged all eligible citizens, especially first-time voters, to actively participate in the revision process to ensure their names are correctly incorporated in the electoral rolls.
