Veer Bal Diwas observed in Raipur as CM Sai pays tribute to Sahibzadas at railway station Gurdwara

TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 27, 2025: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday paid homage to the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas on the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas, offering prayers at the railway station Gurdwara in the state capital. The Chief Minister said the bravery, sacrifice and unwavering courage of the Sahibzadas must be conveyed to every citizen, particularly the younger generation.

Recalling the rich legacy of the Sikh Gurus, Shri Sai said that from Guru Nanak Dev to Guru Gobind Singh, the Gurus and their families made immense sacrifices for the protection of the nation, faith and human values. He noted that Sikh heroes have played a defining role in India’s history through their courage, selflessness and commitment to justice.

Veer Bal Diwas commemorates the extraordinary bravery and martyrdom of Sahibzada Fateh Singh and Sahibzada Zorawar Singh, the younger sons of the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh. The annual observance on December 26 was initiated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to honour their sacrifice and inspire the nation. Despite their tender age, the Sahibzadas refused to submit to injustice and laid down their lives for truth and faith, setting an enduring example of courage and self-respect.

The Chief Minister said the lives of the Sahibzadas teach that truth, courage and dignity are the greatest strengths of any society. He added that many such heroic sacrifices had not received their rightful place in history, a gap that is now being addressed through national recognition and public remembrance.

Shri Sai said that, responding to a request from the Sikh community, the state government has included the stories of the Sahibzadas’ sacrifices in the school curriculum. The lessons will be introduced at the Class III level to ensure that children learn about their courage and martyrdom from an early age. He expressed confidence that this initiative would help instil values of bravery, sacrifice and moral strength among future generations.

Several public representatives and members of the Sikh community were present during the observance, including CREDA Chairman Shri Bhupendra Savanni, NAN Chairman Shri Sanjay Srivastava, Minority Commission Chairman Shri Amarjeet Singh Chhabra, Gurudwara Management Committee Chairman Shri Surender Singh Chhabra, and a large number of community members.

The Chief Minister concluded by reiterating the state government’s commitment to preserving and promoting the legacy of national heroes whose sacrifices continue to inspire India’s collective conscience.
