India–EU Free Trade Agreement opens new avenues for youth, farmers and industry as nation enters a decisive phase towards Viksit Bharat 2047
TFP Bureau, New Delhi, January 29, 2026: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the President’s Address at the beginning of the Budget Session of Parliament reflects the confidence, hard work and aspirations of 140 crore Indians, particularly the youth of the country. Addressing the media at the Parliament premises ahead of the Budget Session of 2026, the Prime Minister described the address as a guiding document that sets the tone for the year and provides clear direction to lawmakers at a crucial juncture in India’s growth story.
The Prime Minister noted that the Budget Session marks a historic moment, as it concludes the first quarter of the 21st century and ushers in the second. He underlined that the next 25 years are vital for achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047, and the forthcoming Union Budget will be the first budget of this decisive phase. He also highlighted that Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the Budget for the ninth consecutive time, calling it a proud milestone in India’s parliamentary history and a reflection of continuity and stability in economic policymaking.
Referring to India’s growing global stature, Shri Modi said the year has begun on a positive note, with India emerging as a beacon of hope and a centre of attraction for the world. He said the recently concluded India–European Union Free Trade Agreement represents a landmark achievement and signals vast opportunities for India’s youth, farmers, fishermen, manufacturers and service sector professionals. Describing it as the “Mother of All Deals,” the Prime Minister said the agreement opens access to a vast market of 27 European nations, enabling Indian goods to reach global consumers at competitive costs.
He urged Indian manufacturers and industry leaders to seize this opportunity by focusing on quality and competitiveness, cautioning against complacency. He said that delivering world-class products to global markets would not only enhance profits but also build enduring trust and prestige for Indian brands, aligned with the nation’s image. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the agreement would strengthen Atmanirbhar Bharat while positioning India as a confident, competitive and productive global economy.
Emphasising the government’s governance philosophy, Shri Modi said the defining identity of his administration has been Reform, Perform and Transform. He remarked that India is now moving swiftly on the “Reform Express,” transitioning from long-pending problems to long-term solutions that create predictability and enhance global confidence. He thanked Members of Parliament for their constructive contributions in advancing this reform agenda.
The Prime Minister stressed that all decisions taken for national progress remain human-centric. While India continues to embrace technology and innovation, he said, the government is committed to ensuring that technological advancement complements human values and sensitivity. He noted that even critics acknowledge the government’s emphasis on last-mile delivery, ensuring that welfare schemes reach people on the ground rather than remaining confined to files and paperwork.
Highlighting India’s democratic strength, Shri Modi said the country’s democracy and demography together present a powerful message of hope to the world. He observed that Parliament, as the temple of democracy, has the responsibility to convey India’s commitment to democratic values, collective decision-making and constructive dialogue—principles that are increasingly respected globally.
Calling for a solutions-oriented approach, the Prime Minister said the present time is not for disruption but for resolution, not for obstacles but for empowered decisions. He appealed to all Members of Parliament to work collectively to accelerate reforms, strengthen last-mile delivery and contribute to building a developed India. Concluding his remarks, Shri Modi extended his best wishes for a productive Budget Session, expressing confidence that it would play a decisive role in shaping the nation’s future.
