PRAGATI Portal Symbolises New India’s Result-Oriented Work Culture: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai

Over 3,300 projects worth ₹85 lakh crore fast-tracked nationwide; 99 major infrastructure projects worth ₹6.11 lakh crore underway in Chhattisgarh

TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 29, 2026: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday said that the PRAGATI digital platform has emerged as a powerful symbol of New India’s new work culture, reflecting the spirit of minimum government and maximum governance through timely decision-making, accountability and effective execution. Addressing the media at the New Circuit House in Raipur, the Chief Minister highlighted the transformative role of the PRAGATI Portal in accelerating infrastructure development, resolving long-pending issues and strengthening Centre–State coordination.

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has made rapid strides towards good governance and has emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economy. In this journey towards a developed India, PRAGATI—an acronym for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation—has played a pivotal role by ensuring that intent is matched with execution. He described the platform as a living example of how technology-driven governance can bring transparency, efficiency and results to public administration.

Explaining the significance of PRAGATI, Shri Sai said the platform goes beyond routine monitoring of large projects. It has established a new administrative culture focused on outcomes, time-bound delivery and accountability. Earlier, he noted, many infrastructure projects suffered from prolonged delays due to procedural bottlenecks, inter-departmental coordination issues and the absence of fixed timelines. PRAGATI was introduced to address these systemic challenges and ensure continuous, high-level monitoring.

The Chief Minister informed that through PRAGATI, the Prime Minister personally reviews projects and issues in regular meetings with Union Secretaries and Chief Secretaries of states. More than 50 such high-level review meetings have been held so far, resulting in the fast-tracking of over 3,300 projects across the country, involving investments of nearly ₹85 lakh crore. The platform has also significantly improved the implementation of 61 major welfare schemes, including One Nation One Ration Card, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM SVANidhi and the Swachh Bharat Mission.

In addition to infrastructure projects, PRAGATI has strengthened grievance redressal mechanisms in 36 key sectors such as banking, insurance, RERA, Jan Dhan Yojana and Matritva Vandana Yojana, ensuring faster resolution of citizen-related issues. Shri Sai said this integrated approach has enhanced public trust in governance systems.

Highlighting Chhattisgarh’s performance on the PRAGATI platform, the Chief Minister said that 99 national infrastructure projects worth ₹6.11 lakh crore are currently underway in the state. Of these, 50 projects have already been completed and made operational, while the remaining are progressing at various stages. A total of 200 Chhattisgarh-related issues were taken up on the PRAGATI Portal, out of which 183 have been successfully resolved, achieving a resolution rate of over 91 per cent.

He said that significant progress has been made in critical sectors, with the resolution of 24 power projects, 23 road transport and highways projects, 14 railway projects, seven coal sector projects and nine steel sector projects. Long-pending and strategically important projects such as the modernisation of the Bhilai Steel Plant and the Lara Super Thermal Power Project gained momentum through PRAGATI, contributing to industrial growth and employment generation in the state. Similarly, complex issues related to land use and material supply affecting the four-laning of the Raipur–Kodebod road were resolved through the platform.

The Chief Minister emphasised that PRAGATI has strengthened cooperative federalism by acting as an effective bridge between the Centre and the states. Improved coordination, cooperation and convergence, he said, are among the key reasons why Indian democracy is globally recognised as a model system.

Shri Sai reaffirmed the Chhattisgarh Government’s commitment to completing development works in a transparent, time-bound manner. He said the state has adopted several governance innovations aligned with the PRAGATI philosophy, which have also received international recognition, including appreciation from Oxford University as effective mechanisms for developing economies. Concluding his remarks, the Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed India is not merely a slogan but a comprehensive roadmap, and platforms like PRAGATI clearly demonstrate the resolve to translate that vision into reality.
