Advertisement to be issued shortly for Assistant Teachers, Teachers, Lecturers and Science Lab Assistants; recruitment aimed at addressing staff shortages and boosting government school education across Chhattisgarh
TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 19, 2026: In a major employment and education-focused initiative, the School Education Department, Chhattisgarh is set to issue an advertisement shortly for the recruitment of nearly 5,000 posts across various teaching and academic support categories in government schools. The move is expected to open up large-scale government job opportunities for youth across the state while significantly strengthening the public education system.
According to official sources, the proposed recruitment will cover posts of Assistant Teacher, Teacher, Lecturer and Assistant Teacher (Science/Laboratory). The state government has authorised the Chhattisgarh Vyapam—the Professional Examination Board—to conduct the written examination for the selection process. All formalities related to the issuance of the advertisement have been completed by the department, and the required recruitment formats and details have already been handed over to Vyapam.
With this, the administrative process related to Teacher Direct Recruitment–2023 has been finalised, paving the way for the launch of the recruitment drive in February 2026. Detailed instructions regarding eligibility criteria, examination pattern, application timelines and selection procedures are expected to be issued along with the advertisement in the coming days.
Officials said the decision to initiate large-scale direct recruitment was taken in line with the directions of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, with the primary objective of addressing the persistent shortage of teachers in government schools across rural and urban areas of the state. The shortage has been affecting classroom teaching and student outcomes, particularly in remote regions.
“The recruitment will help ensure adequate teacher availability in schools and improve the overall quality of education delivery,” a senior official of the School Education Department said. The inclusion of multiple categories—ranging from lecturers and trained teachers to assistant teachers and laboratory assistants—will also create opportunities for candidates with diverse academic and professional qualifications.
Apart from generating employment for thousands of qualified youth, the recruitment drive is expected to have a long-term impact on the education ecosystem by strengthening subject-wise teaching, science practicals and academic supervision in secondary and higher secondary schools.
It is also significant that in the fifth phase of the Assistant Teacher Recruitment Process under Teacher Direct Recruitment–2023, the department has accommodated D.Ed.-qualified candidates against 2,621 posts that became vacant following the termination of B.Ed.-qualified candidates, in compliance with directions issued by the Hon’ble Court. This step has been widely viewed as an effort to ensure legal compliance while safeguarding employment opportunities for eligible candidates.
Education experts believe that the timely recruitment of teachers will improve student–teacher ratios, enhance learning outcomes and restore stability in government schools. With the recruitment advertisement expected shortly, aspirants across Chhattisgarh are keenly awaiting details of one of the largest teaching recruitment drives in recent years.
