Seminar Organised on Future Roadmap in Green Hydrogen Sector
TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 25, 2026: In order to explore opportunities for investment, innovation, and sustainable growth driven by renewable energy resources in the region, Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority (CBDA) on Wednesday organised a half-day seminar at a hotel in Raipur.
Energy Department Secretary Shri Rohit Yadav , Government of Chhattisgarh, attended the programme as the chief guest.
Addressing the seminar, Shri Rohit Yadav outlined the objective of making Chhattisgarh self-reliant in the field of green hydrogen and expanding the scope of global clean energy. “The objective of the event is to promote the use of green hydrogen in the state’s industrial ecosystem and to facilitate a shift from conventional industrial fuels to cleaner alternatives. Efforts will be undertaken to promote it, aiming to boost organic farming and increase farmers’ income,” said Shri Yadav.
Discussions highlighted that Chhattisgarh’s abundant agricultural residue, dairy and market waste, and cattle dung offer strong potential for large-scale green hydrogen production with the right technology.
With a strong base of steel and sponge iron industries in Raipur, Urla, Siltara, Bhilai, Raigarh, Jagdalpur and Bastar, adopting green hydrogen would speed up industrial decarbonisation and support national environmental goals. It would promote clean energy, boost farmers’ income, generate income from waste, and advance net-zero targets.
Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Department, Shri Sumit Sarkar, said the seminar aims to promote the use of green hydrogen in the state’s industrial ecosystem, chart the course for future research, identify potential challenges and pave the way for its large-scale implementation.
Experts present at the seminar also shared their views. On the topic “Hydrogen Economy: Innovation-Led Growth in Industrial Clusters in Chhattisgarh,” Shri Sayaji Mahtre, Senior Scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), delivered a presentation on biomass-based green hydrogen production.
On the subject “Accelerating Green Hydrogen Adoption in Chhattisgarh,” subject expert Shri Dharmendra Kumar Pancharya from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, representatives of the Bhilai Steel Plant, and other entrepreneurs participated in a panel discussion. Representatives from financial institutions such as State Bank of India (SBI) and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) were also present.
In addition, Dr Dharmendra Kumar from the National Green Hydrogen Mission, Dr Sachin Kumar, Executive Director of Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, senior scientists from CSIR-Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI), Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai, BARC, representatives of various private industrial units and senior officials of CBDA were present at the seminar.
