PM to Launch Projects Worth Over Rs 33,700 Crore, Boosting Power, Infrastructure, Education, and Housing Sectors
TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 29, 2025: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Chhattisgarh on March 30, 2025, where he will inaugurate and perform Bhoomi Pujan for several major development projects in Bilaspur’s village Mohbhatta. The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at Raipur Airport by Air Force plane at 2:30 pm. From there, he will head to Mohbhatta by helicopter, reaching at 3:30 pm. The inauguration and Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for a range of projects will take place between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm, after which he will return to Raipur and depart for Delhi.
Comprehensive Power Sector Reforms: Rs 9,790 Crore Power Projects Announced
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation for several power generation and transmission projects aimed at making Chhattisgarh self-reliant in energy production. Key initiatives include the NTPC Sipat Super Thermal Power Project Phase-III (1x800MW) in Bilaspur, which is set to cost over Rs 9,790 crore. This project, based on ultra-supercritical technology, promises high power generation efficiency. Additionally, the Prime Minister will launch Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited’s (CSPGCL) first Super Critical Thermal Power Project (2X660MW) worth Rs 15,800 crore and dedicate three power transmission projects of POWERGRID valued at over Rs 560 crore.
Focus on Clean Energy and Sustainability: New Oil and Gas Projects in Chhattisgarh
In alignment with India’s net-zero carbon emission goals, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited’s (BPCL) City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in Koriya, Surajpur, Balrampur, and Surguja districts. This Rs 1,285 crore initiative will involve over 200 km of high-pressure pipelines and 800 km of MDPE pipelines. Moreover, the Prime Minister will announce the 540 km long Visakh-Raipur Pipeline (VRPL) project by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), valued at over Rs 2,210 crore.
Boosting Connectivity: Railway and Road Projects to Transform Chhattisgarh’s Infrastructure
The Prime Minister will also launch several railway projects to enhance connectivity across Chhattisgarh, including the foundation of seven railway projects spanning 108 km and the dedication of three completed projects totaling 111 km. These projects, worth over Rs 2,690 crore, aim to improve regional connectivity, decongest rail routes, and foster economic growth. Furthermore, PM Modi will flag off a new MEMU train service on the Abhanpur-Raipur section via Mandir Hasaud and dedicate the full electrification of Indian Railways’ network in Chhattisgarh.
Regarding road infrastructure, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the upgradation of the Jhalamla-Sherpar section of NH-930 (37 km) and the Ambikapur-Pathalgaon section of NH-43 (75 km), as well as lay the foundation for the upgradation of the Kondagaon-Narayanpur section of NH-130D (47.5 km) to two lanes. These road projects, valued at over Rs 1,270 crore, are designed to enhance access to tribal and industrial regions, contributing to the overall development of Chhattisgarh.
Education and Housing Initiatives: Empowering Future Generations and Providing Homes
In line with his commitment to education, the Prime Minister will dedicate 130 PM Shri Schools across 29 districts in Chhattisgarh. These schools will be upgraded under the PM School for Rising India scheme, ensuring quality education with modern infrastructure, smart boards, laboratories, and libraries. Additionally, the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) in Raipur will be inaugurated, which will enable real-time online monitoring and data analysis of various educational schemes.
To address housing needs, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate 3 lakh new homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G). As part of the scheme, the Prime Minister will hand over keys to several beneficiaries, fulfilling the vision of providing affordable housing to rural families across the state.
These transformative initiatives by the Prime Minister are expected to pave the way for accelerated development in Chhattisgarh, fostering economic growth, improving infrastructure, and empowering communities across the state.
