TFP Bureau, August 9, 2026: A *Bhoomi Pujan* (groundbreaking ceremony) was performed for the construction of a community center in Ayodhyapuri by Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO). Dignitaries present at the event included Mr. Lakhan Lal Dewangan, Minister of Commerce & Industry, Public Sector Undertakings, Commercial Tax (Excise), and Labour, Government of Chhattisgarh; Councilor Mr. Saroj Shandilya; and Captain Dhananjay Mishra, Head of Corporate Affairs and Administration at BALCO, alongside local public representatives and citizens.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ayodhyapuri community center, Mr. Lakhan Lal Dewangan commended the BALCO management, stating, “BALCO is not limited to industrial production alone; it is also fulfilling its social responsibilities with full commitment. Development projects like this community center will serve as vital hubs for local citizens to host social gatherings and make decisions regarding community development. BALCO is working to improve the lives of the local community by continuously contributing to the region’s all-round development in areas such as education, women’s empowerment, road construction and widening, and healthcare. This collaboration between industry and society is imparting new momentum to the development of Korba.”
Mr. Rajesh Singh, CEO and Whole-time Director of BALCO, said, “We are pleased that BALCO is playing a role in community development across sectors like health, education, livelihoods, and infrastructure. Through community centers and other public amenities, we remain committed to providing better facilities to the people, fostering social cohesion, and contributing to the overall development of society.”
Under BALCO’s infrastructure development initiative, over 85 infrastructure projects have been completed through collective efforts over the past three years. These include the construction of roads and community centers, as well as the renovation of children’s parks, Anganwadi centers, and government schools. More than 20,600 people across 20 villages have benefited from these efforts.
As part of its commitment to regional development, BALCO continues to contribute significantly to the creation and development of essential infrastructure facilities. Over the past two months, the company has constructed the Nehru Nagar Community Centre, Jubilee Park at the Civic Centre, and a park in Parsabhatha as part of its infrastructure development program. Through these initiatives, BALCO is continuously working towards the holistic development of the community and improving the lives of local residents.
