High-level panel led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah approves ₹1,912.99 crore for states affected by floods, landslides and other disasters in 2025
TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 13,2026: The Union Government has approved additional financial assistance for several states affected by natural disasters, with Chhattisgarh set to receive ₹15.70 crore to support relief and rehabilitation efforts.
The decision was taken by a high-level committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which sanctioned ₹1,912.99 crore as additional central assistance for states impacted by disasters such as floods, flash floods, cloudbursts, landslides and Cyclone Montha during 2025.
The approved funds will be released from the National Disaster Response Fund to enable states to accelerate relief operations, rehabilitation work and reconstruction of damaged infrastructure in disaster-affected areas.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed gratitude to the Union Government for extending financial assistance to the state. He thanked the Union Home Minister for supporting Chhattisgarh in strengthening disaster management and response mechanisms.
Officials said the assistance would help the state administration provide timely support to affected communities and enhance preparedness for future natural calamities.
The Union Government stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it remains committed to standing firmly with states during natural disasters and ensuring that adequate resources are made available for prompt relief and rehabilitation efforts.
According to official data, the additional assistance is over and above the funds already released to states during the current financial year. In 2025–26, the Centre has provided significant financial support for disaster management across the country.
A total of ₹20,735.20 crore has been released to 28 states under the State Disaster Response Fund to strengthen emergency response and relief operations. Additionally, ₹3,628.18 crore has been sanctioned to 21 states under the National Disaster Response Fund.
The Centre has also allocated funds aimed at long-term disaster mitigation and risk reduction. During the current financial year, ₹5,373.20 crore has been released to 23 states under the State Disaster Mitigation Fund, while ₹1,189.56 crore has been provided to 21 states under the National Disaster Mitigation Fund.
Officials said these measures are aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness, improving infrastructure resilience and reducing the impact of natural calamities across the country.
