Inspection in Bemetara and Kabirdham focuses on accuracy, transparency and adherence to Election Commission guidelines
TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 29, 2026: Under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls–2026, Roll Observer for Chhattisgarh, Mr. Abhinav Gupta, Additional Director General, Directorate General of Foreign Trade, New Delhi, conducted a detailed inspection of the revision process in Bemetara and Kabirdham districts on January 27. Mr. Gupta has been appointed as Roll Observer by the Election Commission of India to monitor and ensure the accuracy, transparency and quality of electoral roll preparation in the state.
During his visit to Bemetara district, Mr. Gupta closely examined the hearing process related to logical discrepancies in electoral data at the cluster level. He reviewed document verification procedures and the online disposal of Form-6 and Form-7 applications at the Tehsil office in Bemetara. He also inspected the hearing proceedings held at Polling Station No. 01 in Agri village of Assembly Constituency No. 68, Saja, and directed officials to strictly adhere to the guidelines and timelines prescribed by the Election Commission.
The Roll Observer interacted with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from the Bemetara Municipal area, appreciating their efforts in the revision process. He reviewed the activities being carried out through the BLO app and sought feedback on field-level challenges, emphasizing the importance of technology-driven, error-free electoral roll management.
Mr. Gupta also reviewed the Special Intensive Revision work in Kabirdham district. He observed a hearing conducted by Assistant Electoral Registration Officer Mr. Vikas Jain at a camp organized in Chhirha Gram Panchayat. During the camp visit, he interacted with BLOs and voters, reviewed their applications and documents, and provided guidance to ensure smooth and transparent resolution of cases.
At the Kawardha Tehsil office, the Roll Observer inspected the handling of cases related to no-mapping and logical errors. He examined the documents submitted by voters, assessed the verification process, and reviewed the work being carried out by the Tehsildar and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, issuing necessary instructions for further improvement.
Senior election officials accompanied the Roll Observer during the inspection. Those present included Deputy Chief Electoral Officers Mr. Manoj Kesariya and Mr. Jayashankar Oraon, Deputy District Election Officer Bemetara Dr. Deepti Verma, Deputy District Election Officer Kabirdham, along with concerned Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, Supervisors and Booth Level Officers.
The inspection underscored the Election Commission’s focus on ensuring accurate and inclusive electoral rolls ahead of future elections, with special emphasis on systematic verification, prompt grievance redressal and active participation of field-level election functionaries.
