Doctors’ association and medical students felicitate Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai for strengthening medical education in the state
TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 16,2026: A delegation of doctors’ associations and medical students met Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at his residential office in Raipur on Monday and expressed gratitude after Chhattisgarh was allotted two DM (Cardiology) super-speciality seats.
The delegation felicitated the Chief Minister and thanked the state government for its efforts in strengthening medical education and healthcare infrastructure in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Sai said the state government remains committed to expanding healthcare facilities and improving medical education across Chhattisgarh. He emphasised that the government is giving high priority to the health and education sectors so that citizens can receive accessible, affordable and quality healthcare services.
The Chief Minister said continuous efforts are being made to strengthen healthcare institutions by providing modern infrastructure, advanced medical equipment and specialised medical services. According to him, the addition of DM Cardiology seats will help improve super-speciality treatment facilities and produce more highly trained cardiologists in the state.

Sai recalled that when Chhattisgarh was formed, the state had only one medical college with around 100 to 150 seats. Over the years, the state has significantly expanded its medical education network.
“Today there are 14 medical colleges across different parts of the state with approximately 1,400 seats,” he said, adding that several institutions offering courses in physiotherapy, nursing and other medical disciplines have also been established. These institutions are helping students from across the state pursue higher education in the healthcare field.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the development of a major medical hub in Nava Raipur, where a Medico City is being planned. He said the project aims to establish several super-speciality hospitals and advanced healthcare institutions to provide world-class medical treatment to people within the state.
Sai expressed gratitude to Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda for allocating two DM (Cardiology) seats to Chhattisgarh, stating that the decision will strengthen specialised cardiac care and medical training facilities in the state.
Members of the medical community who attended the meeting said the allotment of super-speciality seats would provide new opportunities for doctors to pursue advanced studies in cardiology within the state, while also helping improve the availability of specialised healthcare services.
Among those present during the meeting were Tulsi Kaushik, Devendra Kashyap, several representatives of doctors’ associations, and a large number of medical college students and junior doctors. They appreciated the government’s efforts to expand medical education and improve healthcare facilities in Chhattisgarh.
