State earns ₹16,625 crore through improved transparency, technology-driven monitoring and stronger governance in mining sector
TFP Bureau,Raipur, April 4, 2026: The Government of Chhattisgarh has recorded a significant increase in mineral revenue during the financial year 2025–26, registering a growth of about 14 percent compared to the previous year. The state earned a total mineral revenue of ₹16,625 crore, reflecting strong performance in the mining sector driven by transparent governance, technological innovation and improved monitoring mechanisms.
According to officials of the state’s Mineral Department, the revenue collection achieved nearly 98 percent of the target set for the financial year. The achievement has been attributed to efficient policy implementation, systematic monitoring and improved coordination among government agencies and mining companies.
State Mineral Department Secretary P. Dayanand said the growth demonstrates the effectiveness of the state government’s reforms and the strong foundation of Chhattisgarh’s mineral-based economy. He noted that the results reflect the government’s focus on transparency, administrative efficiency and the adoption of modern technology in managing mineral resources.
The increase in revenue is particularly notable as it is more than double the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of around six percent recorded during the previous five years. Officials said the surge highlights the positive impact of structural reforms and digital monitoring systems introduced by the government.
One of the major factors behind the rise in mineral revenue has been the efficient optimization of mineral dispatch routes used by major public sector mining companies, including NMDC Limited and other public sector undertakings. Improved logistical planning and streamlined transportation processes have contributed to better tracking of mineral movement and higher revenue realisation.
Another key initiative that played an important role in strengthening transparency and operational efficiency is the implementation of the digital platform Khanij 2.0. The system has enabled authorities to monitor mining operations, transportation and royalty collection through an integrated information technology framework.
Officials stated that the platform has significantly enhanced real-time monitoring, data transparency and administrative accountability in the mining sector. It has also reduced the possibility of irregularities by bringing various mining-related processes under a single digital system.
Looking ahead, the state government plans to expand the scope of the Khanij 2.0 platform by integrating minor minerals into the system during the upcoming financial year. This move aims to create a fully digitised and unified mining ecosystem in the state, covering both major and minor mineral operations.
In addition, the government is planning to strengthen monitoring of mineral transportation through the wider use of modern technologies such as Vehicle Tracking Systems (VTS), iCheck Gates and drone-based surveillance. These technologies will help authorities monitor mineral movement more effectively and curb illegal mining or transportation activities.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the state government is committed to ensuring sustainable growth in mineral revenue while maintaining transparency, efficiency and accountability in the management of mineral resources. He emphasized that the effective utilisation of mineral wealth plays a crucial role in strengthening the state’s economy and supporting development initiatives.
The Chief Minister added that increased revenue from the mining sector will provide additional resources for infrastructure development, public welfare schemes and economic growth in the state. He reiterated that the government will continue to adopt modern technologies and policy reforms to ensure responsible and sustainable management of Chhattisgarh’s rich mineral resources.
