Chhattisgarh to Recruit 2,292 Assistant Teachers; Exam Likely on October 11

School Education Department initiates large-scale hiring drive under plan to fill 5,000 teaching posts across the state

TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 16,2026: The Chhattisgarh government has initiated the recruitment process for 2,292 posts of Assistant Teachers under the School Education Department, marking a major step towards strengthening the state’s school education system. The move follows the announcement made by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai regarding the filling of 5,000 vacant teaching positions across various categories in government schools.

According to officials, out of the 2,292 Assistant Teacher posts, 795 positions will be filled in ‘E-Cadre’ schools, while 1,497 posts will be recruited under the ‘T-Cadre’ category. The recruitment drive is expected to address the shortage of teachers in many government schools and improve the student–teacher ratio, particularly in rural and remote areas of the state.

Shri Ashok Narayan Banjara, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Public Instruction, said that a detailed advertisement specifying eligibility criteria, educational qualifications, age limits, reservation policies, and other service conditions will soon be released. The complete recruitment notification will be made available on the official website of Chhattisgarh Vyapam as well as on the School Education Department portal.

The written recruitment examination will be conducted by Chhattisgarh Vyapam, the state’s professional examination board responsible for organising competitive recruitment tests. The examination for the Assistant Teacher posts is tentatively scheduled to be held on October 11, 2026.

Officials further informed that the detailed syllabus for the examination will also be uploaded on the Vyapam website to help candidates prepare for the test in advance. Information regarding the schedule for filling out online application forms, including the starting and closing dates, will be announced separately by Vyapam. Applicants have been advised to regularly check the official websites for updates and instructions related to the recruitment process.

The recruitment initiative is part of the state government’s broader effort to strengthen the education sector, ensure the timely appointment of teachers, and improve the quality of education in government schools. By filling long-pending vacancies, the government aims to provide better learning opportunities to students and ensure effective classroom teaching across the state.

In line with the commitment made by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the School Education Department will also issue separate advertisements for the recruitment of Lecturers and Teachers in the coming months. These recruitments will be conducted in phases as part of the larger plan to fill 5,000 teaching posts across Chhattisgarh.
