State Government Issues Formal Order Following UPSC Panel Recommendation

TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 16, 2026 — The Chhattisgarh government has formally appointed senior IPS officer Arun Dev Gautam as the Director General of Police (DGP) and Head of the State Police Force.

According to an order issued by the Home (Police) Department from Mahanadi Bhawan in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar on Friday, the appointment has been made following the recommendation of a panel constituted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), New Delhi.

Gautam, a 1992-batch Indian Police Service officer, had been holding the charge of Director General of Police at the Police Headquarters in Raipur prior to the formal confirmation of his appointment.

The order stated that Gautam has now been posted to the substantive post of Director General of Police, Chhattisgarh, and will receive the Apex Scale of ₹2,25,000 under Pay Matrix Level-17. The appointment will be deemed effective from February 5, 2025 — the date on which he assumed charge of the position.
