Waqf Amendment Bill: A Historic Step Towards Transparency and Social Justice – CM Vishnu Dev Sai

TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 3,2025: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has hailed the passage of the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha, calling it a landmark step towards transparency, accountability, and social justice. He described the bill as a testament to India’s strong democratic system, emphasizing that the extensive discussions surrounding it reflect the maturity of parliamentary debate.

Chief Minister Sai stated that the bill would bring long-overdue clarity to the management of Waqf properties and government lands, ending decades of ambiguity. By granting district collectors the authority to conduct surveys, the amendment aims to expedite the resolution of land disputes. He stressed that the bill does not interfere in religious activities but is instead focused on administrative reforms and judicial transparency.

Highlighting the bill’s significance for tribal communities, Sai praised the provision that prohibits the creation of Waqf properties in areas covered under the Fifth and Sixth Schedules of the Constitution. He asserted that this would effectively curb illegal encroachments on tribal land and safeguard indigenous cultural heritage.

Additionally, the Chief Minister pointed out that the bill includes a provision ensuring that only Muslim members will be part of the Waqf Board, reinforcing the principles of self-governance within the community.

Criticizing the opposition, Sai accused the Congress and other parties of attempting to mislead the Muslim community for political gain. He condemned these efforts as divisive and asserted that the bill is not against any religion but is designed to uphold justice and equality.

With its focus on transparency, fairness, and safeguarding community interests, the Waqf Amendment Bill is being seen as a significant step towards better governance and social harmony.
