TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 4, 2025: Chhattisgarh has recorded its highest-ever mineral revenue collection of Rs 14,195 crore in the financial year 2024–25, marking a historic achievement under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. The state’s mineral income rose by nearly 11% compared to last year’s Rs 12,795 crore, highlighting a robust growth in mining activity and efficient resource management.
The milestone was achieved under the strategic guidance of Shri P. Dayanand, Secretary of the Mineral Resources Department, and reflects the government’s commitment to transparency, innovation, and inclusive development in the sector.
Dantewada Leads the Way
Among districts, Dantewada emerged as the top contributor with Rs 6,580 crore in mineral revenue. Other significant contributions came from Korba (Rs 2,148 crore), Raigarh (Rs 2,027 crore), Balod (Rs 1,313 crore), Surguja (Rs 585 crore), Balodabazar (Rs 354 crore), Kanker (Rs 328 crore), and Surajpur (Rs 155 crore).
Chhattisgarh: A Mineral Powerhouse
Despite occupying just 4% of India’s total geographical area, Chhattisgarh contributes over 16% to the national mineral production value. The state is rich in essential minerals such as coal, iron ore, limestone, and bauxite. In total, 28 types of mineral reserves, including strategically important ones, have been identified in the state.
E-Auction Boosts Revenue and Transparency
The adoption of the e-auction system since 2015 has played a pivotal role in boosting revenue. By awarding mining leases through online auctions, the state has not only ensured fairness but also increased income through premiums in addition to royalties.
Investing in Infrastructure through Mineral Development Fund
In a move to ensure inclusive growth, 5% of total mineral revenue is transferred to the “Mineral Development Head” each year. These funds are used to develop infrastructure and promote resource accessibility in remote regions. For 2025–26, around Rs 200 crore has been earmarked for rail corridor projects in these areas.
Mining as a Driver of Socio-Economic Growth
The Chief Minister emphasized that mining in Chhattisgarh is not just about raw material supply to industries but is also a powerful engine of socio-economic development, especially for remote communities.
“The land of Chhattisgarh is rich not only in mineral wealth but also in its potential for development. With record mineral revenue of Rs 14,195 crore this year, we’ve set a new benchmark. Through visionary policies, e-auctions, and honest governance, we are transforming the mineral sector into a driver of progress and prosperity,” said Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai.
This achievement solidifies Chhattisgarh’s position as a leader in mineral development while setting the stage for inclusive, sustainable growth across the state.
