₹235-Crore Garment Unit Breaks Ground in Nava Raipur Textile Park, 4,650 Jobs to Be Created

Chhattisgarh’s first textile park unit took off on Thursday as Tamil Nadu-based Swift Textiles commenced work on a ₹235-crore garment manufacturing facility in Nava Raipur, reinforcing the state’s ambition to emerge as a major textile and apparel hub.

TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 26,2026: Chhattisgarh’s push to establish itself as a leading textile and garment manufacturing destination received a major boost on Thursday with the ground-breaking ceremony of the first industrial unit in the Textile Park being developed at Nava Raipur.

Commerce and Industry Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan and Housing and Environment Minister O.P. Choudhary jointly performed the foundation-laying ceremony for a garment manufacturing facility being set up by Tamil Nadu-based Swift Textiles Private Limited. The company is investing ₹235 crore in the project, which is expected to generate employment for approximately 4,650 people.

Describing the development as a milestone for the state’s industrial growth, Dewangan said the textile sector has immense potential to create large-scale employment, particularly for youth and women in rural and semi-urban areas. He said the government’s focus is on creating quality job opportunities within the state so that people can build prosperous careers closer to home.

Addressing the gathering, Choudhary said Chhattisgarh is poised to emerge as the country’s next major textile hub. He assured investors of all necessary support, including reliable power supply, water availability, infrastructure and connectivity, adding that the government remains committed to strengthening the state’s industrial ecosystem while maximizing employment opportunities for local youth.

Senior officials present at the event included CSIDC Chairman Rajiv Agrawal, Housing and Environment Department Secretary Ankit Anand, CSIDC Managing Director Vishvesh Kumar, and representatives of Swift Textiles.

Modern Textile Park Taking Shape

The state government is developing a modern Textile Park over 81 acres in Nava Raipur to promote investments in textiles, garments, apparel, technical textiles and allied industries. The park offers plots ranging from 2,758 square metres to 38,180 square metres and is being equipped with comprehensive infrastructure, including roads, drainage systems, power substations, water supply networks, street lighting, administrative facilities, an effluent treatment plant, solid waste management facilities and a common facility centre.

Officials said the park’s strategic location, robust logistics network and modern infrastructure make it an attractive destination for textile investments.

Swift Textiles will primarily manufacture knitted garments and fabrics, with a focus on children’s apparel and exports to European and American markets. The project is expected to rank among the state’s largest textile investments in terms of employment generation.

In addition to Swift Textiles, plots have also been allotted to Puneet Creations and Drishti Designs LLP. Together, the three companies have proposed investments of nearly ₹445 crore, which are expected to create more than 11,000 jobs, further strengthening Chhattisgarh’s position as an emerging textile and employment hub in Central India.

Textile Sector Gets Policy Push

The textile and ready-made garment sector has been identified as a priority area under the Chhattisgarh Industrial Development Policy 2024-30. The policy focuses on labour-intensive industries and offers employment incentives of ₹6,000 per month for female employees and ₹5,000 per month for male employees for up to five years.

According to government officials, the policy has significantly enhanced the state’s attractiveness for textile investments. Since its implementation, Chhattisgarh has received investment commitments exceeding ₹8 lakh crore across sectors over the past 18 months, with the potential to generate more than 1.6 lakh jobs.

Apart from textiles and garments, the state has also attracted major investment proposals in data centres, information technology, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and electrical and electronics manufacturing, reflecting growing investor confidence in Chhattisgarh’s business-friendly environment and industrial growth prospects.
