Vedanta Contributes ₹62,722 Crore to National Exchequer in FY26, Decade-Long Total Nears ₹5 Lakh Crore

Tax Transparency Report highlights 13.3% annual rise in government contribution, record financial performance, and continued focus on transparent governance and nation-building.

TFP Bureau, Mumbai, June 26,2026: Diversified natural resources company Vedanta Limited has reported a contribution of ₹62,722 crore to the national exchequer during the financial year 2025-26, according to its 11th Tax Transparency Report. The company said the amount accounts for 36 per cent of its total revenue for the year and reflects its commitment to transparent governance and nation-building.

The latest contribution marks a 13.3 per cent increase over the previous financial year, taking Vedanta’s cumulative contribution to the national exchequer over the past decade to ₹4,83,034 crore. The company stated that it continues to rank among India’s top three private-sector contributors to government revenues.

The strong tax contribution was backed by a record financial performance in FY26. Vedanta reported its highest-ever annual revenue of ₹1,74,075 crore, up 15 per cent year-on-year, while EBITDA rose 29 per cent to ₹55,976 crore. Profit after tax increased 22 per cent to ₹25,096 crore, and the company’s net debt-to-EBITDA ratio improved from 1.22 times to 0.95 times, its strongest position in 14 quarters.

The company attributed its performance to robust operations across its diversified portfolio, including zinc, lead, silver, aluminium, copper, iron ore, steel, power, nickel, chrome, and oil and gas businesses. Zinc emerged as the largest contributor to government revenues at ₹19,053 crore, followed by aluminium at ₹15,788 crore and oil and gas at ₹11,697 crore.

According to the report, Vedanta’s contribution included ₹14,840 crore in government royalties and profit petroleum, ₹8,290 crore in income and capital taxes, ₹11,897 crore in other taxes such as customs duties, electricity duty and oil cess, ₹21,777 crore in indirect taxes including GST, and ₹3,188 crore in withholding taxes. The Government of India also received ₹1,180 crore as dividend through its 27.92 per cent stake in Hindustan Zinc Limited.

Vedanta said tax transparency remains a key pillar of its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy. Through voluntary disclosures made consistently over the past 11 years, the company aims to strengthen stakeholder confidence and uphold high standards of corporate governance. It added that its tax principles are aligned with internationally recognised frameworks, including the B-Team Responsible Tax Principles and the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.

The company stated that its continued emphasis on financial discipline, transparency and responsible business practices supports India’s broader vision of sustainable economic growth and the goal of becoming a developed nation.
