DMF-Funded Road Brings New Momentum to Development in Korba’s Mining-Affected Villages

₹1.81-crore road project improves year-round connectivity, boosting education, healthcare, agriculture and rural economy

TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 2,2026: The District Mineral Foundation (DMF) fund is emerging as a catalyst for development in Chhattisgarh’s mining-affected regions, with a newly upgraded road in Korba district significantly improving connectivity and quality of life for thousands of rural residents.

The 4.40-km Mudhapar-Dhatura-Korbi-Khamhariya road has been renovated and strengthened at a cost of ₹180.93 lakhunder the DMF scheme, providing all-weather access to villages that had long struggled with poor road infrastructure.

The project, implemented under the guidance of Korba Collector Kunal Dudawat, was completed on April 15, 2026. Officials said the upgraded road has resolved long-standing transportation problems and is expected to accelerate socio-economic development across the region.

Earlier, the road would become muddy and waterlogged during the monsoon, disrupting the daily lives of villagers. Students found it difficult to attend schools, patients faced delays in reaching healthcare facilities, and farmers struggled to transport their produce to markets.

With the completion of the project, villagers now have smooth year-round connectivity, making travel safer and faster. Improved access to schools, hospitals and marketplaces has also facilitated timely transportation of agricultural produce, benefiting local farmers and strengthening the rural economy.

Officials said the road has become more than just a transport link, serving as a vital infrastructure asset that is improving access to education, healthcare, trade and other essential services in the mining-affected villages.

Residents welcomed the initiative, expressing gratitude to the district administration and the District Mineral Foundation for addressing a long-pending demand. They said the improved road connectivity has brought a visible positive change to their daily lives and opened new opportunities for economic and social development.

The project is being cited as an example of how the planned and community-focused utilisation of DMF funds can contribute to sustainable development and improve living standards in mining-affected areas.
