Registration fee rebate of 50% boosts women’s property registrations by 45%; citizens gain Rs 50.14 crore

TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 12, 2026: Chhattisgarh government’s decision to offer a 50% rebate on property registration fees for women, aimed at promoting women’s economic empowerment and property ownership under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, has yielded encouraging results.

According to the Registration and Stamps Department, a comparison of the period from May 6 to June 30, 2026, with the corresponding period in 2025 shows that the share of sale deeds registered in women’s names increased from 32% to 41%. During the same period, the number of property registration documents in women’s names rose from 14,668 to 21,292, marking a 45% increase.

Nearly 75% of districts recorded annual growth of more than 20% in property registrations by women, with Janjgir-Champa, Balod, Korea, Raipur and Kanker among the districts reporting notable gains. The registration fee rebate also provided citizens with a direct financial benefit of approximately Rs 50.14 crore, while encouraging greater property ownership among women.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that increasing women’s property ownership is a key step towards social justice and inclusive development, as it enhances their economic security while strengthening their status and decision-making role within families and society. He said the initiative has benefited a large number of families and reflects the government’s commitment to making women self-reliant, empowered and equal partners in the state’s development.

Finance and Commercial Tax (Registration) Minister Shri OP Choudhary said that the significant rise in property registrations in women’s names reflects a broader social and economic transformation. He said the 50% registration fee rebate is intended not only to provide financial relief but also to expand women’s ownership of assets, adding that the initial results indicate the initiative is effectively achieving its objectives while supporting a transparent, citizen-centric and inclusive registration system.
