State government and industry representatives discuss long-term CSR collaboration for Anganwadi modernisation, nutrition, digital learning and community development
TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 24,2026: The Chhattisgarh Department of Women and Child Development has launched a major initiative to strengthen nutrition, child welfare and women’s empowerment programmes through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnerships with industries operating in the state.
A state-level meeting was held at the Circuit House in Civil Lines on Friday, bringing together senior government officials and representatives of leading industries to explore long-term collaboration for the effective implementation of welfare schemes.
Chairing the meeting, Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department, Shahla Nigar, said the holistic development of women and children remains one of the state government’s highest priorities. She stressed that active participation from the corporate sector would significantly enhance the impact of government programmes.
Calling upon industries to become long-term development partners, she said CSR support would provide fresh momentum to initiatives aimed at improving nutrition, early childhood care, women’s empowerment, Anganwadi infrastructure and innovation-driven community programmes.
“With your cooperation, we will build a ‘Golden Chhattisgarh’,” Shahla Nigar said while urging industries to actively contribute towards social development.
Director of the Women and Child Development Department, Dr. Renuka Shrivastava, said the department is focusing on three core areas—women’s empowerment, child protection, and child health and nutrition. She noted that CSR assistance could help improve Anganwadi infrastructure, provide quality learning materials and digital resources, strengthen nutrition programmes, ensure access to clean drinking water, develop sanitation facilities, promote sports activities and introduce innovative educational initiatives.
Officials made a detailed presentation outlining potential CSR projects, highlighting priority areas such as eradication of malnutrition, modernisation of Anganwadi centres, establishment of nutrition gardens and drumstick (moringa) plantations, early childhood development programmes, disability-friendly facilities, adolescent girls’ health and nutrition initiatives, and capacity-building programmes.
Representatives from participating industries welcomed the proposals and shared suggestions for collaboration across various development initiatives. It was agreed that the department and industry partners would jointly identify priority projects and implement them in phases through regular coordination. Click here to see video 👇

Officials emphasised that CSR participation would extend beyond infrastructure development to support holistic child development, quality early education, nutrition, digital empowerment, innovation and greater community participation. To facilitate this, the department plans to establish a structured mechanism for regular dialogue, coordination and periodic review with industry partners.
The department also highlighted that the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, has developed the Pankhudi portal to encourage CSR participation, while the Chhattisgarh Government operates the State CSR (SCSR) Portal to align corporate CSR initiatives with the state’s development priorities.
The initiative is expected to create stronger public-private partnerships and accelerate social development by leveraging corporate resources for sustainable improvements in child welfare, nutrition and women’s empowerment across Chhattisgarh.
