Pralhad Joshi Assumes Charge as Union Education Minister

Reviews Key Education Schemes and Ongoing Initiatives in First Meeting with Senior Ministry Officials

TFP Bureau, New Delhi, July 26, 2026: Senior BJP leader Pralhad Joshi on Saturday officially assumed charge as the Union Minister for Education at Kartavya Bhavan. Joshi, who also holds the portfolios of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New and Renewable Energy, began his tenure by reviewing the progress of major education initiatives and government schemes.

Soon after taking charge, the Union Minister chaired a high-level review meeting with senior officials of the Ministry of Education to assess the implementation of key programmes and discuss the way forward for the school and higher education sectors.

Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary also attended the meeting and participated in discussions on the ministry’s ongoing initiatives.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Vineet Joshi, Secretary, Department of Higher Education, T.K. Anil Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, along with other senior officials of the ministry.

The review focused on the implementation of various flagship schemes and administrative initiatives aimed at strengthening India’s education system. The meeting marked Joshi’s first official engagement after assuming charge of the ministry, signalling the government’s continued focus on improving educational outcomes and advancing reforms in the sector.
