Commerce and Industry Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan Says BALCO’s Development Initiatives Are Driving Regional Growth
TFP Bureau Korba,July 28, 2026: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) has inaugurated a modern children’s park at Balconagar, transforming a previously unused and waste-strewn site into a vibrant community space for children, youth and senior citizens. The park was inaugurated by Chhattisgarh Commerce, Industry and Labour Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan, while Korba Mayor Sanju Devi Rajput attended the event as the Guest of Honour.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by BALCO Chief – Corporate Affairs & Administration Captain Dhananjay Mishra, public representatives, senior officials and a large number of local residents.
Spread across nearly 13,000 square feet, the newly developed park features children’s play equipment, an open-air gym, an acupressure pathway, landscaped green lawns and Areca palm plantations. A solar-powered water supply system has also been installed to ensure environmentally sustainable maintenance of the facility.
Following the inauguration, the Minister and the Mayor toured the park and reviewed the recreational and fitness facilities developed for the community. They appreciated BALCO’s initiative to create a safe, modern and inclusive public space for residents.
Speaking on the occasion, Lakhan Lal Dewangan said BALCO has played a significant role in the all-round development of the region through its continuous investments in community infrastructure and social welfare initiatives.
“The region is witnessing comprehensive development through BALCO. The company has contributed significantly to roads, healthcare, women’s empowerment, community centres and drainage infrastructure. Industrial growth in Korba is also creating direct and indirect employment opportunities,” he said.
Mayor Sanju Devi Rajput said BALCO has consistently supported the region’s development by creating modern public infrastructure.
“The company’s contribution to developing community centres, parks, roads and other civic amenities is clearly visible across the region. Such initiatives improve the quality of life of local residents,” she said.
Parsabhatha Ward Councillor Badri Kiran thanked BALCO for developing the children’s park and highlighted the company’s continued efforts in community welfare. He said that through its Project Unnati, BALCO is promoting women’s empowerment and livelihood opportunities such as mushroom cultivation and kosa silk production. The company has also been contributing to strengthening healthcare facilities and upgrading Anganwadi centres and schools in the surrounding villages.
Appealing to residents to preserve the new facility, he urged the community to keep the park clean, safe and well maintained, describing it as a shared public asset.
BALCO said the initiative reflects its commitment to creating better public amenities and promoting healthy lifestyles in the communities around its operations. In recent months, the company has completed and handed over several infrastructure projects, including community centres, roads and parks, to local authorities. Through such initiatives, BALCO continues to contribute towards improving the quality of life and promoting sustainable and inclusive development in the region.
