Patriotic programmes, Tiranga rallies and cultural events to be held across the state from August 7 to 17
TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 7,2026: Chhattisgarh is gearing up for an extensive series of patriotic celebrations as the state launches the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ campaigns in the run-up to Independence Day. In line with the Central Government’s nationwide initiative, the Department of Culture will organise a host of public participation programmes across the state from August 7 to 17, with this year’s celebrations dedicated to commemorating the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’.
The campaign, being held under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, aims to transform the Independence Day celebrations into a mass movement by encouraging widespread citizen participation and fostering a spirit of patriotism.
According to the Department of Culture, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign will be observed from August 9 to 17 across all districts, while ‘Vande Mataram’ singing programmes and cultural events will be conducted from August 7 to 15. Following the Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremonies on August 15, large-scale community renditions of the National Anthem and ‘Vande Mataram’ will be organised at various locations throughout the state.
As part of the celebrations, Tiranga Yatras, bike and car rallies, torchlight processions and Tiranga Marathons will be organised at district headquarters, development blocks, gram panchayats and educational institutions. Public representatives, self-help groups, police personnel, NCC and NSS cadets, Scouts and Guides, students and citizens are expected to participate in large numbers.
The campaign will also feature digital and cultural engagement initiatives. Citizens will be encouraged to hoist the National Flag at their homes, click selfies with the Tricolour and upload them to the official ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ portal. Public spaces will host Tiranga-themed installations, patriotic concerts and cultural fairs showcasing local artisans and indigenous products.
To mark the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’, audio-video recording booths will be installed across the state, enabling people to record and upload their renditions of the iconic patriotic song.
The state will also observe ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ on August 14 with exhibitions highlighting the human tragedy of the Partition and paying tribute to the sacrifices made during India’s freedom struggle. On the occasion, police bands will perform patriotic musical compositions at prominent public venues across Chhattisgarh.
Officials said the week-long programmes are designed to strengthen national unity, honour the country’s freedom movement and encourage citizens, particularly the youth, to actively participate in the celebrations marking India’s Independence.
