Alwar gets 3-lakh-litre milk processing plant; four Saras Dairy plants worth ₹274 crore commissioned in Bhilwara, Jaipur, Pali and Rajsamand
TFP Bureau, Alwar, August 16, 2026: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 954 development works worth ₹6,453 crore across 17 districts of Rajasthan, with a strong focus on agriculture, dairy, cooperatives, rural infrastructure and employment.
Addressing a gathering in Alwar, Shah said empowering the youth, poor, farmers and women was essential to achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047. He said the projects launched from a single platform included farmer assistance under Kisan Samman Nidhi, dairy infrastructure for livestock owners, employment opportunities for youth and expansion of Saras Dairy.
Among the major projects is a 3-lakh-litre-per-day milk processing plant in Alwar, for which the foundation stone was laid. Shah said the plant’s capacity would soon be increased to five lakh litres per day. He said the facility would provide a reliable market for milk produced by livestock farmers and ensure that payments reach their bank accounts.
Four Saras Dairy plants in Bhilwara, Jaipur, Pali and Rajsamand, costing a total of ₹274 crore, were also commissioned. Shah said cooperative dairies had the potential to transform Rajasthan’s rural economy, improve the livelihoods of livestock owners and create new opportunities for future generations.
The Union Minister said the government aims to take high-yielding breeds of cows and buffaloes to households across Rajasthan. He also highlighted steps taken by the state government for livestock insurance and said the expansion of dairy infrastructure would create opportunities for exporting milk products.
Farmers receive financial assistance
Shah said four district cooperative banks were also launched in Phalodi, Balotra, Didwana-Kuchaman and Pratapgarh, where farmers will be able to access loans at zero per cent interest.
He said ₹152 crore under the Chief Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme had been transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). In addition, more than ₹667 crore had been disbursed to 67 lakh farmers under the Mukhyamantri Kisan Samman Nidhi at ₹1,000 per farmer.
Shah noted that development works worth ₹5,500 crore had been launched earlier in Chittorgarh on Sunday. With the Alwar projects, foundation stones and inaugurations worth ₹11,953 crore were undertaken across Rajasthan in a single day.
Focus on expanding cooperative network
Highlighting the government’s cooperative development agenda, Shah said Rajasthan currently has around 44,000 cooperative societies and the objective is to ensure that every village in the state is connected with the cooperative movement.
He said 50 new warehouses are scheduled to be constructed during 2026-27, while 62 warehouses with a capacity of 100 MT and another 100 warehouses with a capacity of 500 MT have already been completed.
Shah said the cooperative movement would be instrumental in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahakar Se Samriddhi”, aimed at making villages economically prosperous.
‘No year without a major farmer initiative since 2014’
Shah listed several initiatives launched by the Modi government since 2014, including the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, Soil Health Cards, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, e-NAM, Kisan Sampada Yojana, increased MSP, PM-KISAN, Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and the Ministry of Cooperation.
He said that from 2014 to 2026, there had not been a single year in which the Centre had not introduced a major initiative for farmers or livestock owners.
The Union Minister also said that foodgrain procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP) had reached its highest-ever level under the Modi government. According to him, MSP has increased by 130% for bajra, 103% for mustard, 84% for wheat, 120% for cotton and 168% for jowar.
Shah said the government’s objective was to strengthen rural economies through cooperatives and create sustainable avenues of prosperity for farmers, livestock owners and rural communities.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav and other dignitaries were present at the event.
