Seven-day exhibition showcases Chhattisgarh’s role in the freedom struggle, 150-year journey of ‘Vande Mataram’ and the state’s development story
TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 16, 2026: A seven-day photo exhibition organised by the Public Relations Department at the historic Town Hall in Kachhari Chowk, Raipur, to commemorate the 80th Independence Day has emerged as a major attraction for students and citizens.
The exhibition brings together photographs, historical documents and visual narratives highlighting Chhattisgarh’s contribution to India’s freedom struggle, the sacrifices of freedom fighters, the 150-year journey of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’, and the state’s progress in governance, welfare and infrastructure.
Students from B.P. Pujari Government English Medium School, Rajatalab, visited the exhibition along with their teachers. Students Manvi Sahu, Palak Sahu, Yogita Vishwakarma, Anandit Bose and Yugti Sonkar explored the exhibits with teachers Anvari Javed Sheikh and Sunil Mahar.
The students showed keen interest in the historical photographs and documents and learned about important episodes of the freedom movement and the contribution of Chhattisgarh’s freedom fighters.
150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’
A prominent section of the exhibition traces the 150-year historical journey of ‘Vande Mataram’, highlighting its evolution and its role in inspiring national consciousness during the freedom movement.
Through photographs and historical material, visitors are introduced to the significance of the national song and the role it played in strengthening patriotism and unity during the struggle for Independence.
Chhattisgarh’s freedom struggle showcased
The exhibition features rare photographs, documents and accounts related to the freedom fighters, public leaders and martyrs of Chhattisgarh. Episodes associated with Mahatma Gandhi’s visits to the state and various social and national movements have also been highlighted.
Officials from the department explained the historical significance of the exhibits to visiting students, helping them understand the sacrifices and dedication of those who contributed to the freedom movement.
Focus on welfare and development
The exhibition also presents the state’s journey of development and good governance, with displays highlighting welfare initiatives for women, farmers, youth, workers and economically vulnerable families.
Information on schemes including Mahtari Vandan Yojana, Krishak Unnati Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, along with initiatives related to education, skill development, employment and social security, is being showcased.
Another section focuses on the state’s modern infrastructure and governance initiatives, including digital services, Sushasan Tihar, Harit Chhattisgarh, improved road and rail connectivity, industrial development, investment and employment opportunities.
AI technology adds a modern dimension
The exhibition combines historical heritage with modern technology through an AI-based initiative that allows visitors to create digital photographs featuring backdrops of Chhattisgarh’s prominent tourist and religious destinations.
The facility has attracted considerable interest among children and young visitors. A documentary showcasing the state’s development, achievements and welfare programmes is also being screened at the venue.
Open to visitors till August 21
The exhibition at Town Hall, Kachhari Chowk, will remain open to the general public from August 15 to August 21, from 10:30 am to 8 pm each day.
Students visiting the exhibition described it as an informative and inspiring experience that offered them an opportunity to connect with Chhattisgarh’s freedom struggle and understand the state’s ongoing development journey.
