Over 4,500 consumers to benefit; project expected to improve power supply in urban and rural areas and ease load on nearby substations
TFP Bureau, Korba, September 1, 2026: Chhattisgarh Industries, Commerce, Labour and Excise Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan on Tuesday performed the groundbreaking ceremony for a new 33/11 KV, 5 MVA-capacity electricity substation at Jambahar in Korba district. The project, estimated to cost ₹3.40 crore, is expected to significantly improve the quality and reliability of power supply in the region.
The new substation, located near the BALCO area, will help reduce the load on existing substations while strengthening the electricity distribution network in both urban and rural areas.
According to officials, more than 4,500 electricity consumers are expected to benefit directly from the project. Urban areas including Rumgara, Belgiri Basti, Madarsa Mohalla, Hawai Patti, Khan Mohalla and Jogiyadera are expected to receive improved power supply.
The project will also strengthen electricity availability in rural areas, including Jambahar, Rokbahri, Sonpuri, Parsabatel and Chuhiya.
Focus on Solar Energy and Government Schemes
Addressing the gathering, Minister Dewangan said the governments led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai are committed to ensuring adequate and reliable electricity supply to every household.
He urged villagers to make use of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and the Bijli Bill Samadhan Yojana to reduce their electricity-related expenses and take advantage of available government initiatives.
Project Welcomed by Local Representatives
Zila Panchayat President Dr Pawan Singh and Zila Panchayat member Renuka Rathia welcomed the project, describing the proposed substation as an important step towards improving infrastructure and accelerating development in the area.
Public representatives Rafiq Memon, municipal councillors Narendra Dewangan and Seema Kanwar, Jambahar Sarpanch Upan Singh Kanwar, senior officials of the Electricity Department, including the Superintending Engineer and Executive Engineer, and a large number of villagers were present at the ceremony.
