35 rural eye camps conducted over six weeks; 2,303 people receive spectacles while 498 patients referred for further treatment
TFP Bureau, Korba, September 6, 2026: The Adani Foundation has intensified efforts to improve access to primary eye care in rural areas of Korba, screening 3,005 people from 25 villages through a series of 35 eye screening camps conducted over nearly one-and-a-half months.
The initiative, organised in collaboration with Korba Power Limited, Patadi, was conducted from July 13 to August 26, 2026, bringing basic eye screening services closer to rural communities and reducing the need for residents to travel long distances for consultations.
Of the 3,005 people screened, 1,745 were men and 1,260 were women. Following the examinations, 2,303 pairs of spectacles were distributed to those requiring vision correction. This included 1,374 pairs for men and 929 pairs for women.
498 Cases Referred for Further Treatment
The screening drive also helped identify people requiring additional medical attention. A total of 498 cases—268 men and 230 women—were referred for further treatment. Another 203 individuals were found to have no significant eye-related issues during the screening.
The camps also focused on creating awareness about the importance of regular eye examinations and timely treatment. By conducting screenings within villages, the initiative aimed to make preventive healthcare more accessible to communities that may otherwise face difficulties in reaching specialised medical facilities.
The Adani Foundation said such healthcare initiatives are part of its continuing efforts to strengthen access to essential services in rural communities around Korba Power Limited.
As part of its community development and social responsibility programmes, the Foundation is also implementing initiatives in areas including healthcare, education and infrastructure development, with the broader objective of improving the quality of life in surrounding communities.
