172 modern 1BHK studio units equipped with essential amenities; complex features green spaces, solar power, rainwater harvesting and modern community facilities
TFP Bureau, Korba, September 7, 2026: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited company, has inaugurated its new ‘Vardan’ residential complex, providing modern housing facilities to its young employees as part of its continuing employee welfare and township development initiatives.
BALCO Chief Executive Officer and Whole-time Director Rajesh Kumar Singh, along with senior officials, formally inaugurated the complex and handed over keys to young employees. The initiative is aimed at providing the company’s emerging workforce with safe, comfortable and well-equipped homes while enhancing the overall quality of life in BALCO Nagar.
The ‘Vardan’ complex is a G+9 residential building comprising 172 1BHK studio apartments, designed specifically to meet the requirements of young employees. The name ‘Vardan’, symbolising auspiciousness and prosperity, reflects the company’s vision of creating a comfortable and supportive living environment for its workforce.
Speaking at the inauguration, Rajesh Kumar Singh said employees are central to BALCO’s growth and that their well-being extends beyond the workplace to their homes and community. He said the new apartments would provide young employees with convenient, high-quality housing and contribute to a better lifestyle and a more pleasant living environment in BALCO Nagar.
Modern amenities for comfortable living
Each apartment has been equipped with essential household facilities, including a modular kitchen, television, wardrobes, sofa-cum-bed, refrigerator and washing machine. The complex also has three elevators and modern systems for waste collection and segregation.
Around 35,000 square feet of green and recreational space has been developed within the complex. A cafeteria-cum-dining facility and banquet hall have also been provided, offering residents spaces for social gatherings, cultural programmes and community activities.
Strong focus on sustainability
Sustainability has been incorporated into the design and operation of the ‘Vardan’ apartments. A 50-kW solar power generation system has been installed to support BALCO’s and the Vedanta Group’s sustainability objectives.
The complex also features an 80-kilolitre-per-day sewage treatment plant and three rainwater harvesting structures. These facilities are intended to promote efficient water use, recycling and conservation while reducing the environmental footprint of the residential complex.
Employee welfare at the centre of township development
The ‘Vardan’ apartments represent more than an addition to BALCO’s housing infrastructure. The project reflects the company’s employee-centric approach to creating a safe, convenient and socially connected living environment.
With modern housing, recreational spaces, community facilities and sustainability measures, the new residential complex is expected to provide young employees with improved living conditions while further strengthening BALCO Nagar as a well-equipped industrial township.
