Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra Takes Oath as 16th Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court

Governor Ramen Deka administers oath at Lok Bhavan; Justice Mohapatra, formerly of Orissa High Court, assumes charge as Chief Justice

TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 7, 2026: Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra on Monday took oath as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, becoming the 16th Chief Justice of the state’s High Court.

Governor Ramen Deka administered the oath of office to Justice Mohapatra at a ceremony held at Chhattisgarh Mandapam in Lok Bhavan. Prior to his appointment, Justice Mohapatra was serving as a senior judge of the Orissa High Court.

Following the oath-taking, Governor Deka presented Justice Mohapatra with a copy of the original warrant of appointment issued by the President of India and extended his congratulations and best wishes to the new Chief Justice.

Dignitaries Attend Ceremony

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Tokhan Sahu, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and former Governor Ramesh Bais were among those present at the ceremony.

Rajya Sabha MP Lakshmi Verma, MLAs Sunil Soni and Anuj Sharma and other public representatives also attended the event. Justice Mohapatra’s wife, Anita Mohapatra, along with judges of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, was present on the occasion.

The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel, who also read out the warrant of appointment issued by the President.

Senior Officials and Legal Fraternity Present

Additional Chief Secretary Subrat Sahu, Principal Secretary (Home) Niharika Barik Singh, Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Secretary to the Governor Dr. C.R. Prasanna, Advocate General Vivek Sharma and Registrar General of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur, Rajneesh Shrivastava attended the ceremony.

Senior state government officials and advocates of the High Court were also present.
