TFP Bureau, Raipur; July 14, 2024: The Agriculture Department has announced that the last date for insuring Kharif crops under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for the 2024 season is July 31, 2024. This initiative covers crops including irrigated and unirrigated paddy, urad, moong, groundnut, kodo, kutki, maize, tur/tuar, ragi, and soybean, providing crucial financial security against adverse weather conditions such as drought, flood, hailstorm, and more.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, a comprehensive awareness campaign has been launched to encourage more farmers to enroll in the insurance program across districts.
Farmers are reminded that Aadhaar authentication is mandatory for crop insurance to be valid. The Agriculture Department has advised farmers to update their Aadhaar details in their respective banks before the deadline. Non-debtor farmers must submit documents including a photocopy of their Aadhaar card, the latest land certificate (B-1, Khasra), the first page of the bank passbook showing account details, IFSC code, and bank address, along with a crop sowing certificate or a self-declaration of intent to sow the proposed crop. Other necessary documents like crop sharing agreements for sharecroppers and cultivators are also required.
The insurance coverage amounts vary by crop type, with premiums set accordingly. For instance, irrigated paddy is insured up to Rs 60,000 per hectare with a premium of Rs 1,200, while non-irrigated crops receive coverage up to Rs 43,000 per hectare with a premium of Rs 860. Similar coverage details apply to other crops such as urad, moong, groundnut, and maize.
