TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 14, 2025: The Chhattisgarh government has approved historic amendments to its Industrial Development Policy for 2024-30, signaling a major leap towards transforming the state into a key industrial and employment hub. The decision was made during a meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, outlining a comprehensive strategy to boost the state’s socio-economic growth over the coming years.
Focus on Local Employment and Youth Empowerment
One of the most significant changes in the policy is the emphasis on providing priority to local youth in industrial employment. Companies that hire Chhattisgarh’s youth will now be eligible for special government grants. This move aims to increase local employment, curb migration, and strengthen the state’s workforce.
Modern Farming Takes Center Stage
In a bold step to modernize agriculture, the policy now integrates high-tech farming techniques like hydroponics and aeroponics into the industrial sector. This shift will connect farmers with advanced technologies such as automation and information systems, boosting both productivity and profitability in agriculture.
Investment in Sports and Youth Development
The revised policy prioritizes sports and youth development by encouraging the establishment of sports academies and private training centers. These initiatives will provide a platform for emerging talents and help develop the sports industry in the state, creating both career opportunities and a thriving sports culture.
Chhattisgarh to Become an Educational Hub
As part of its drive to improve higher education, the state plans to establish quality universities, positioning Chhattisgarh as an educational hub. This will offer students in the state access to world-class educational opportunities, reducing the need for them to pursue higher education outside the state.
Expansion of the Automobile Sector
The policy also introduces provisions to recognize automobile repair and service units in every development block group, promoting technical employment opportunities in rural areas. This will enhance the availability of essential services while creating more jobs in these regions.
Tourism and Hotel Business to Get a Boost
To promote tourism, the government has reduced the minimum investment threshold for constructing hotels and resorts in remote areas such as Bastar and Surguja. This will stimulate the tourism sector, create local jobs, and provide livelihoods to the youth in these regions.
Double Incentives for Textile Industry
In a move to foster growth in the textile sector, industries investing in textiles will now receive up to 200% in incentives. This initiative aims to provide more job opportunities for women and rural artisans involved in tasks like sewing, knitting, and embroidery.
Chhattisgarh Positioned to Become a Logistics Hub
The new logistics policy will streamline goods transportation across the state, reducing costs, saving time, and facilitating easier access to markets for traders. This is expected to improve the state’s overall business environment and enhance its connectivity with national and international markets.
Special Benefits for the Disabled
The state has revised the definition of disabled individuals to include a broader range of beneficiaries, ensuring that they can access a wider array of government schemes. This is a significant step toward fostering inclusivity and equal opportunities for all citizens.
Incentives for Defense and Aerospace Sectors
Chhattisgarh is also making strides to attract investment in the defense and aerospace sectors by offering special incentive packages for the Global Capability Center. This move is expected to position the state as a strategic player in these high-growth industries.
Infrastructure Grants for Private Industrial Parks
The government will now provide grants for infrastructure development in private industrial parks, alongside promoting “plug and play” factories. This will enhance the ease of doing business and further encourage industrial development in the state.
Promoting Ease of Living in Urban Areas
As part of the effort to improve quality of life, the policy recognizes private CBSE schools and mini malls (with multiplexes) as thrust sectors, particularly in areas that currently lack these facilities. This initiative will help boost local economies and improve access to essential services.
An Inclusive Policy for Regional Balance
The revised policy aims to ensure regional balance, providing equitable development opportunities across all parts of the state and reducing regional disparities.
Chief Minister’s Vision for a Prosperous Chhattisgarh
Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai expressed confidence that the amended policy would not only spur economic growth but also deliver social justice and empower the youth and farmers of Chhattisgarh. He believes the state is poised to become one of the top investment destinations in the country, paving the way for a brighter future for its citizens.
