Chief Minister Launches Sarthak and Rakshak Abhiyan to Boost Child Rights Awareness

Raipur, June 17, 2025 — Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai inaugurated two key initiatives, Sarthak and Rakshak Abhiyan, aimed at raising awareness about child rights across Chhattisgarh. The launch took place during the 15th Foundation Day celebration of the Chhattisgarh State Child Rights Protection Commission at Pandit Deendayal Auditorium in Raipur.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Sai emphasized the vital role of the commission in educating the public about child rights, especially in remote regions like Bastar and Surguja, where children often migrate early in search of work and face exploitation. “New campaigns such as Sarthak and Rakshak will significantly strengthen awareness about children’s rights,” he said.

The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to education and child welfare through schemes offering schooling, coaching, and youth hostels, including the Prayas initiative, Nalanda campus, and Tribal Youth Hostel in Delhi. “A strong society is built through education,” he added.

Mrs. Varnika Sharma, Chairperson of the Commission, detailed the objectives of the campaigns—Sarthak Abhiyan focuses on general child rights awareness, while Rakshak Abhiyan targets university students with information on child rights protection laws.

The event also honored police personnel, Anganwadi workers, and girl students who made notable contributions toward child rights awareness. New educational materials, including guide booklets, protector booklets, and cartoon books addressing topics like good touch, bad touch, safe touch, human trafficking, and the right to education, were released.

Several dignitaries, including MLAs Sunil Soni, Purandar Mishra, Guru Khuswant Saheb, Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Sanjay Srivastava, and Wakf Board Chairman Dr. Salim Raj, attended alongside representatives from social organizations connected with the commission.
