Chhattisgarh Judicial System Takes Major Leap Towards Paperless Justice with Digitization and E-Summons

TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 25, 2025: In a significant stride towards a transparent, speedy, and paperless judicial system, the Chhattisgarh State Judiciary today inaugurated digitization and scanning centers in 23 district courts, including Raigarh, Janjgir-Champa, Korba, and Bemetara. Alongside, video conferencing facilities connecting district courts with district hospitals were launched, and e-summons services in criminal cases were introduced. The virtual launch was led by Hon’ble Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court, Bilaspur.

Chief Justice Sinha hailed the occasion as a landmark moment in the judicial history of Chhattisgarh. He emphasized that the new video conferencing capability will ease the participation of medical professionals in court proceedings without the need for travel, allowing them to provide testimony remotely. The introduction of e-summons will simplify and enhance the efficiency of summons service in criminal trials.

Since assuming office, Chief Justice Sinha has championed the integration of modern technology and expansion of judicial infrastructure. His efforts include visits to remote district courts and initiatives like setting up first aid clinics and post offices in court premises. These advancements, coupled with digitization, are aimed at delivering faster justice in a more accessible and efficient environment.

The new digitization centers will enable scanning and electronic storage of court records, significantly reducing paperwork and speeding up case management. With these developments, Chhattisgarh joins the forefront of states embracing the e-Court Mission of India.

The launch event saw the participation of Hon’ble Justice Narendra Kumar Vyas, Chairman of the High Court Computerisation Committee, other committee members, portfolio judges, district judges, and key judicial officials, all joining virtually.
