TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 12, 2025: Seven urban local bodies (ULBs) from Chhattisgarh have earned prestigious national recognition in the Swachh Survekshan 2024 cleanliness survey. The awards ceremony will be held in New Delhi on July 17, where President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu will personally present the honors. Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal and Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu will also attend the event.
Among the awardees, Bilaspur Municipal Corporation has been selected in the Big Cities category (population 3-10 lakh), Kumhari Municipality in the Small Cities category (20,000-50,000), and Bilha Nagar Panchayat in the Very Small Cities category (below 20,000 population). These three will receive the President’s Awards for excellence in sanitation.
Additionally, Raipur Municipal Corporation will be presented the Ministerial Award from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for its outstanding cleanliness efforts at the state level.
This year, a new category called the Super Swachhata League (SSL) was introduced to honour cities consistently performing in the top ranks over the past three years. Under this category, Ambikapur Municipal Corporation (population 50,000 to 3 lakh), Patan Nagar Panchayat, and Bishrampur Nagar Panchayat (both under 20,000 population) from Chhattisgarh have been recognized.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao congratulated all the winning urban local bodies, acknowledging their sustained and coordinated efforts to keep Chhattisgarh’s cities clean and beautiful. They emphasized that the awards reflect the dedicated work of the Urban Administration and Development Department, local bodies, and citizens.
“The national recognition of these seven urban local bodies is a proud moment for Chhattisgarh. It highlights the commitment of our administration and communities towards cleanliness and urban development,” said Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. “Cities like Bilaspur, Kumhari, Bilha, Raipur, Ambikapur, Patan, and Bishrampur have set high standards in sanitation, serving as role models for others. We remain committed to advancing cleanliness and modern amenities across all our cities.”
The Chief Minister expressed hope that more cities from the state would earn national accolades in the years ahead, as all levels of government continue to innovate and collaborate for a cleaner, greener Chhattisgarh.
