Governor Shri Vishwabhushan Harichandan Encourages Lifelong Learning at ITM University Convocation
TFP Bureau,Raipur; Sept 15, 2023: The pursuit of education should be a lifelong journey, marked by innovation, creativity, and continuous learning. This was emphasized by Governor Shri Vishwabhushan Harichandan during his address at the convocation ceremony of ITM University in Raipur. The event, held in the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium, saw the distribution of 377 degrees, including 13 gold medals. Notably, three honorary degrees were conferred during the ceremony, honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to their respective fields.
Mr. Mukesh Kumar, CEO, and MD of Kendriya Bhandar, ITM Professor R.S. Mani, and Carnatic Music expert Smt. G. Sharda Subramaniam were the distinguished recipients of honorary degrees from the university.
Governor Shri Harichandan graced the occasion as the chief guest and delivered an inspiring address. He highlighted that the convocation ceremony not only celebrates the achievements of the students but also showcases their immense potential. Education, he emphasized, has always played a pivotal role in driving social progress, breaking barriers, challenging norms, and creating opportunities. The knowledge gained during the university journey will shape the students’ futures and will be instrumental in nation-building.
In today’s fast-paced and dynamic world, characterized by technological advancements and globalization, the ability to adapt to change is crucial to remain relevant in one’s chosen field, Shri Harichandan remarked. He urged the students to utilize their education and knowledge for personal growth and contribute actively to the development of the nation, becoming responsible citizens in the process.
Governor Shri Harichandan reminded the students not to forget their pride in their country. He highlighted India’s remarkable progress, currently being the fifth-largest economy globally and moving towards becoming the third-largest under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Modi. The “Mera Mati Mera Desh” campaign, initiated by Shri Modi, pays homage to the brave freedom fighters and heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country. India’s successful organization of the G-20 conference has bolstered its credibility on the world stage.
The convocation featured a speech by Dr. R. R. Chidambaram, Chairman (Honorary) of the School of Advanced Studies in Nuclear and Technology under the Bhabha Atomic Research Institute and a Padma Vibhushan awardee. The presidential address was delivered by the Chancellor of ITM University, Professor Dr. P.V. Ramanna, while the welcome address was given by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sumen Singh.
The event was attended by Shri Deepak Aggarwal, Deputy Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Umesh Kumar Mishra, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Private University Regulatory Commission, Ms. Lakshmi Murthy, Director-General of the University, as well as other professors, faculty members, students, and their parents.
