TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 30, 2025: During the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Chhattisgarh, officials have clarified that only about 5–6 percent of voters will need to provide supporting documents for verification. The Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have already completed matching voter data with the records from the 2003 SIR, covering approximately 71 percent of voters assigned to their respective polling stations.
According to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Chhattisgarh, this process reflects significant progress, given the demographic and geographical changes over the past two decades. Many voters have relocated, and several polling stations have undergone delimitation since 2003. Officials stated that during the ongoing door-to-door verification phase, the voter list matching percentage is expected to increase by another 10–15 percent, ensuring more comprehensive coverage and accuracy.
Notably, nearly 50 percent of Chhattisgarh’s voter base comprises women. Since the last revision, a large number of married women have shifted to new polling areas. The CEO’s office expects that 15–20 percent of these women voters will be successfully verified during the current enumeration process. With these additions, the total matching percentage is projected to reach 94–95 percent, leaving only a small fraction—around 5–6 percent—of voters required to provide documents for verification.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has emphasized its commitment to ensuring a smooth and transparent revision process, while minimizing inconvenience for citizens. To assist voters, the ECI has activated multiple support channels. Voters can contact the National Helpline at 1950 or use the “Book-a-Call with BLO” feature to connect directly with their Booth Level Officer for assistance or clarification.
Officials urged all voters to verify their details promptly and take advantage of these digital and telephonic facilities to resolve any discrepancies. The initiative reflects the Commission’s focus on voter convenience, transparency, and the use of technology to strengthen India’s democratic framework.
