Coal India Orders Major Administrative Reshuffle Across Subsidiaries

Senior officials, including General Managers and Deputy Managers, shifted across CIL units; Senior Manager Saurav Das sent to WCL, Deputy Manager Dinkar Tiwari posted to headquarters

TFP Bureau, New Delhi/Kolkata, February 18, 2026:
In a significant administrative reshuffle aimed at strengthening operational efficiency, Coal India Limited (CIL) has issued a series of transfer and posting orders affecting officers across its subsidiary companies. The transfers involve senior officials at the levels of General Manager, Chief Manager, Senior Manager and Deputy Manager, and are to be implemented with immediate effect.

According to the official order issued on February 17 by Rajesh V. Nair, General Manager (Personnel), Executive Establishment Division, Coal Bhawan, Kolkata, officers from key coal-producing subsidiaries—including South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) and Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL)—have been reassigned to new locations as part of routine cadre management and organisational requirements.

Among the notable transfers, Senior Manager Saurav Das has been moved from the headquarters of Coal India Limited to Western Coalfields Limited, where he is expected to take up his new responsibilities shortly. In another key posting, Deputy Manager Dinkar Tiwari, earlier serving with Northern Coalfields Limited, has been transferred to the Coal India Limited headquarters, a move seen as recognition of his administrative experience.

Officials across various subsidiaries have been instructed to assume charge at their new postings without delay. The reshuffle covers both operational and administrative wings and is understood to be part of CIL’s ongoing efforts to optimise manpower deployment, enhance inter-unit coordination and meet production and management targets across coalfields.

Sources within the company said such transfers are a regular feature in the organisation and are intended to provide officers with broader exposure across different coal-bearing regions and functional areas. “The objective is to leverage experience and skills where they are most needed, while also ensuring leadership continuity at the unit level,” a senior official said.

Coal India Limited, the world’s largest coal producer, oversees multiple subsidiaries operating across eastern, central and western India. Administrative realignments at this scale are seen as crucial for maintaining efficiency in a sector that plays a central role in the country’s energy security. See the order here 👇
