Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls Begins Across Chhattisgarh

TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 4, 2025: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls has officially begun across all assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh. Under this extensive voter list revision exercise, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have commenced door-to-door distribution of enumeration forms to ensure that every eligible citizen’s name is accurately recorded in the electoral rolls. The campaign, being carried out under the direction of the Election Commission of India, will continue until December 4, 2025, with January 1, 2026, fixed as the qualifying date for inclusion of new voters.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Chhattisgarh, Shri Yashwant Kumar, has appealed to all eligible citizens—especially first-time voters, newly married individuals, and those who have recently shifted residences—to take part actively in the Special Intensive Revision. He emphasized that voter registration is not just a right but also a fundamental duty that strengthens democratic participation. Shri Kumar urged every voter to verify their names in the electoral roll and ensure that their details such as address, age, and gender are correctly recorded.

According to the Election Commission, the Special Intensive Revision is aimed at making the electoral rolls more accurate, comprehensive, and error-free ahead of future elections. During this one-month exercise, BLOs will visit every household to distribute and collect enumeration forms. Citizens can submit these forms offline to their respective BLOs at the designated polling stations. In addition, the Election Commission has also made online registration more accessible through digital platforms to promote ease and transparency in the process.

Eligible citizens can fill out their enumeration forms online by visiting the official website voters.eci.gov.in or by downloading the ECINET mobile app. The app not only allows users to complete registration but also includes a “Book a Call with BLO” feature, enabling direct interaction with the concerned Booth Level Officer. For citizens facing technical or procedural difficulties, assistance is available through the toll-free voter helpline number 1950.

To ensure smooth facilitation, the Election Department has established help desks and IT support centers at the district and tehsil levels. These centers will remain operational during office hours, where trained officials will guide citizens through the process of filling and submitting their forms, resolving discrepancies, and updating existing voter information. BLOs have also been instructed to pay special attention to remote and tribal areas to ensure no eligible voter is left out of the electoral process.

The schedule for the Special Intensive Revision in Chhattisgarh is as follows: enumeration forms will be filled and submitted between November 4 and December 4, 2025. The draft electoral roll will be published on December 9, 2025, followed by a period for claims and objections from December 9, 2025, to January 8, 2026. Hearings, verifications, and resolution of claims and objections will be carried out between December 9, 2025, and January 31, 2026, with the final electoral roll slated for publication on February 7, 2026.

The Election Commission has stressed that this exercise is a crucial step toward ensuring transparency, inclusivity, and fairness in the electoral process. By revising and verifying voter data, the Commission aims to eliminate duplicate entries, include newly eligible voters, and update information for those who have changed their residence or personal details.

CEO Yashwant Kumar reiterated that active public cooperation is vital for the success of this campaign. “The accuracy of the electoral roll is the foundation of a free and fair election. Every citizen must take this opportunity to check their details, update their information if required, and help build a stronger democratic system,” he said.

With both offline and digital platforms available, along with dedicated support channels, the Election Commission expects a significant rise in voter participation and awareness through this comprehensive revision campaign.
