Administration Intensifies Border Vigil to Curb Illegal Paddy Transport; Farmers Report Smooth Procurement Under Support Price Policy

TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 18, 2025:
As paddy procurement at the support price progresses across Chhattisgarh, the state administration has strengthened monitoring measures to curb illegal paddy movement into the state from neighbouring regions. Acting on directives from the Jashpur District Collector, a Revenue Department team carried out late-night surprise inspections at checkpoints along the Jharkhand border to assess ground-level arrangements and plug potential loopholes.

The inspection team included Tehsildar Jayshree Rajanpath, Deputy Tehsildar Arun Kumar, Food Inspector Alok Toppo, along with market, revenue, and patwari officials. The team reviewed security deployment, surveillance systems, and vehicle-checking protocols at the Bhalmanda, Sakardega, and Saintangatoli checkpoints. Officials on duty were instructed to intensify vigilance and ensure robust screening to prevent illegal paddy transportation.

Local Sarpanchs and Secretaries were also present during the inspection. Authorities urged village-level representatives to raise awareness and immediately report suspicious movements in border areas. The district administration reiterated that strict action would be taken against anyone found violating procurement regulations, adding that continuous monitoring would continue throughout the procurement season.

Amid these enforcement efforts, encouraging feedback from farmers reflects the effectiveness of the state’s procurement system.
In Saraipali, farmer Chhabilal Bari of Rajadih village expressed deep satisfaction after successfully completing the procurement process for his 176 quintals of paddy.

He reported receiving his tokens on time and praised the smooth, transparent operations at the Jangalbeda Procurement Centre. Calling the policy “farmer-friendly,” he said the timely procedures and efficient arrangements ensured a hassle-free experience for cultivators.

Chhabilal also extended gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai for the state government’s decision to procure paddy at Rs 3,100 per quintal, and for allowing the sale of 21 quintals per acre, terming these measures a major relief for farming families.

He said that strengthening farmers would ultimately strengthen the state: “With the support price, our income will rise, and we will be able to secure a better future for our families.”

Together, the intensified administrative vigilance and positive ground-level experiences indicate the government’s twin focus on protecting the procurement system from irregularities while ensuring that genuine farmers benefit from the support price mechanism.
