Paddy Procurement Gains Pace in Chhattisgarh, Over 14.54 Lakh Quintals Purchased in Five Days

Chhattisgarh’s paddy procurement at support price has picked up strong momentum, with more than 14.54 lakh quintals purchased within the first five days. The state government has initiated timely payments, tightened vigilance against illegal transportation, and expanded monitoring to ensure a smooth and transparent procurement process.

TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 19, 2025: Paddy procurement in Chhattisgarh has entered a phase of rapid escalation as farmers continue to bring their harvest to procurement centres across the state. On November 19—the fifth day of the procurement season—7,11,335 quintals of paddy were purchased, nearly equalling the total quantity procured in the previous four days. Between November 15 and 19, a cumulative 14,54,451 quintals have already been procured at the support price.

Acting on the directives of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the state has simultaneously begun the process of releasing payments to farmers. Markfed has issued ₹214.18 crore to the Apex Bank to ensure timely disbursal. The state government has earlier extended a bank guarantee of ₹26,200 crore to Markfed to safeguard smooth payment for all paddy transactions during the 2025–26 Kharif marketing season.

Senior officials said that comprehensive arrangements have been put in place across procurement centres to avoid overcrowding, reduce waiting time and ensure hassle-free procurement. Officers are stationed at every centre to oversee operations, monitor queues, and address farmer grievances immediately. In addition, senior officials at the state and district levels are conducting continuous field inspections to review facilities, storage arrangements, weighing mechanisms and payment systems.

Strict Vigilance Against Irregularities
The government has maintained strong oversight to prevent illegal transportation or storage of paddy. Checkpoints across district borders are being manned by enforcement teams, and surprise inspections of vehicles are being carried out. Under the ongoing crackdown on irregularities, authorities have registered 373 cases of illegal storage and transport so far, leading to the seizure of 25,567 quintals of paddy.

District-wise Procurement Rising
The plains districts have reported significant increases in arrivals. According to data from the Food Department, 7,11,353 quintals were procured across all districts on November 19 alone. Procurement figures so far include:

  • Balod: 1,44,468 quintals

Token Tunhar App Gains Popularity
Farmers across districts have expressed satisfaction with the Token Tunhar mobile app introduced to streamline token issuance. The app allows farmers to secure their slot online, significantly reducing crowding at centres and ensuring smooth scheduling for procurement.

A total of 26.50 lakh farmers have registered to sell paddy this season, covering 29.27 lakh hectares, marking one of the state’s largest procurement cycles to date.

With procurement gaining momentum and administrative systems running in full swing, the state government expects the pace to accelerate further in the coming weeks, ensuring farmers receive timely payments and a transparent platform to sell their produce.
