Repeated Mention of Chhattisgarh in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ a Matter of Pride: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s praise for blackbuck conservation boosts state morale; CM says national recognition strengthens public participation and environmental commitment

TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 26, 2026: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday described the repeated mention of Chhattisgarh in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat as a matter of immense pride for the state, saying such recognition on a national platform inspires citizens and strengthens the state’s identity.

The Chief Minister was addressing a large gathering at Vinayak City in Bhatagaon, Raipur, where he joined citizens to listen to the 133rd episode of Mann Ki Baat. The Prime Minister, during the broadcast, appreciated the efforts undertaken in Chhattisgarh for blackbuck conservation, drawing national attention to the state’s initiatives in wildlife and biodiversity protection.

Calling it a “special honour” for the people of Chhattisgarh, Sai said the Prime Minister’s acknowledgement reflects the dedication and collective efforts of local communities, forest officials and environmental stakeholders in protecting the blackbuck population.

“When the Prime Minister mentions Chhattisgarh’s achievements on such a respected national platform, it not only brings recognition but also boosts the morale of our citizens. It reaffirms that the hard work of our people is being noticed across the country,” the Chief Minister said.

Mann Ki Baat as a Bridge Between Government and People

Sai described Mann Ki Baat as a powerful medium that connects the nation and highlights inspiring grassroots initiatives from across India. He said the programme has emerged as an effective forum for celebrating innovation, public participation and exemplary work being done at the local level.

“The Prime Minister engages with citizens like a guardian, bringing forward inspiring stories and encouraging people to contribute positively to society. Such dialogue strengthens participatory governance and energises collective nation-building efforts,” he remarked.

The Chief Minister noted that the recognition of Chhattisgarh’s blackbuck conservation efforts underscores the state’s firm commitment to environmental protection and biodiversity conservation. He added that the model being developed in the state could serve as an inspiration for other regions seeking to balance development with ecological preservation.

Focus on Environmental and Renewable Initiatives

Referring to the broader themes discussed in the programme, Sai highlighted the Centre’s decision to classify bamboo separately from trees, a move that has significantly increased its utilisation and generated livelihood opportunities, particularly for women and forest-dependent communities.

He said the policy shift has encouraged bamboo-based enterprises, strengthened rural economies and supported self-employment initiatives across tribal and forested areas of the state.

The Chief Minister also mentioned the Prime Minister’s emphasis on the potential of wind energy and renewable resources. He stated that Chhattisgarh is making sustained efforts in promoting renewable energy to enhance self-reliance and ensure long-term energy security.

“Our state is committed to expanding clean energy initiatives and exploring new avenues in the renewable sector. Such efforts will not only strengthen the economy but also contribute to environmental sustainability,” Sai said.

Community Participation and Social Bonding

In a unique gesture during the event, the Chief Minister shared traditional Chhattisgarhi dishes brought from his home with those present and joined them for a community meal. He said such informal interactions foster a sense of unity, mutual trust and belongingness among citizens.

“Moments like these strengthen social harmony and remind us that development is a collective journey,” he observed.

The programme was attended by Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Raman Singh, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, MLAs Purandar Mishra and Sampat Agrawal, Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation Chairperson Mona Sen, along with other public representatives and a large number of citizens.

As the broadcast concluded, attendees expressed pride over the Prime Minister’s appreciation of the state’s efforts, with many noting that such recognition motivates communities to continue contributing towards environmental conservation and inclusive development.

Chief Minister Sai reiterated that Chhattisgarh would continue to work with dedication in areas such as wildlife conservation, sustainable livelihoods and renewable energy, ensuring that the state remains at the forefront of progressive and participatory development.
